How to optimize products?

ANOVA experiment analysis is the answer!

ANOVA is an experiment method which allows you to evaluate the effect of different factors over a certain response and locally optimize the performance of a desired and meassurable variable.

Simple example!

Imagine you are trying to create the fluffiest cupcake for your cake shop, however the combination of many different ingredients and processes may or not affect this characteristic of your product.

An example of some of the variables (factors) that may affect the fluffiness of your desert might be:

  • Ammount of butter
  • Ammount of milk
  • Baking temperature

ANOVA will allow you to determine which of the factors are determinant on the fluffiness of your cupcake and will allow you to understand under what conditions you will get your perfect cake.

ANOVA R Shinny app

The app that was done for this course consists on an ANOVA calculator for 4 different factors.

For this example we will imagine some cupcake flufiness data and only two factors, for a 200g mix:

  • Baking temperature
    180 Celcius
    200 Celcius
  • Amount of butter
    40 g
    50 g
    60 g

Analyzing our perfect cupcake data

  1. First we input the information in the spreadsheet displayed.
