Total no. of men surveyed \((n) = 1500\)
No. of men against the “green sticker Control Policy” = 500
No. of men who are in favour of the policy \((x) = 1500 - 500 = 1000\)
\(\therefore\) The sample proportion of men who are in favour of the policy \((p) = \frac{x}{n}= \frac{1000}{1500} = 0.6667\)

Testing of hypothesis

Let \(P\) = True population proportion of men who are in favour of the policy.

  1. Null Hypothesis (H0): \(P = 0.5\) [People in favour and disfavour are significantly equal ]
    Against
    Alternative Hypothesis (H1): \(P > 0.5\) [Majority of people in the town are significantly in favour of the policy]

  2. Level of significance (\(\alpha\)) = 0.05
