Influenza and pneumonia related deaths in England and Wales were below the five year average prior to the March lock down. Mentions of influenza and pneumonia also increased during the peak Covid death period. Subsequent to decline in Covid related deaths the influenza and pneumonia related deaths continued to track below the five year average. The end of the time series shows a slight move back up towards five year average. No effect of mandatory mask wearing and post-lock-down social distancing measures on flu and pneumonia related deaths is apparent.
