Suicide is a major health problem in today’s world having severe socioeconomic, political and emotional consequences.The data presented attempts to create an awareness about the growing number of suicide cases in India and identifies the important findings (major factors causing suicides,suicides among different age groups & professions) that are of key importance in understanding the suicidal intentions of Indians and help in preparing strategies in an attempt to avert suicides.The data is originally sourced from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) recorded over the years 2001 to 2012 and is targeted especially at government officials and public health departments with the intention that necessary actions would be implemented to curb this growing crisis.
