The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) uses the Smarter Balanced suite of summative assessments in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics to provide annual measures of what students know and can do in relation to the Common Core State Standards for ELA and mathematics. These measures provide information about how much students have improved in ELA or math from the previous year and help identify gaps in knowledge or skills so students get the support they need for success in higher grades and become ready for college or a career. Visit the California Department of Education’s Smarter Balanced Assessment System web page for more information.
