Introduction

This document explores the tweets between two companies that are leaders in the insurance P&C industry. There are only two datasets. The first dataset gathers all the tweets that have mentioned @Allstate. The second dataset is composed of feed that indicates @StateFarm. I decided to choose the opposing companies because I have been working in the insurance industry for over three years now. I have taken a liking to the insurance industry because my family business is an Independent Insurance Agency itself. I have no idea what kind of insights I am going to uncover, but some of the data should be interesting. Also, bear with me because I have no idea how Twitter works.

Question #1

Question: What Insurance company has a greater average favorite count for tweets and retweets that are mentioned between Allstate and State Farm?

Data: I have filtered the data to only include tweets that have mentioned the Insurance companies’ accounts of both Allstate and State Farm.

## StateFarm_Avg_Fav_Count
## 1 0.8106509
## Allstate_Avg_Fav_Count
## 1 0.2028986

Analysis: As I analyze the data above, it looks like State Farm receives, on average many more favorites for the post and retweets than Allsates does in the 200 observations that I have recorded.

Question #2

Question: How many tweets where quoted from a verified account between Allstate and StateFarm?

## Total_StateFarm
## 1 5
## Total_Allstate
## 1 3

Analysis: Looking at the data that I have gathered, I know it is a small amount of data but does still gives an excellent insight into advertising. Withing the limited 200 records that I collected, I counted the number of times a verified account quoted each insurance company. These verified accounts could have been a celebrity or new network etc. The data shows that State Farm, in my observations, had five distinct times that verified accounts had mentioned its brand. While Allstate only had three times that a verified account mentioned it. This is not surprising as it is well known that State Farm is one of the larges national insurance carriers in the United States. And as a result, it spends the most amount of celebrity and professional endorsements.

Question #3

Question: What twitter handle has more retweets? State Farm or Allstate?

## StateFarm_ReTweet
## 1 97
## Allstate_ReTweet
## 1 58

Analysis: In the final analysis, Sy=tate farm still has the edge on Allstate. By a significant amount, there is a disadvantage to Allstate, where State Farm has 97 Retweets vs. Allstates 58 retweets.

Conclusion

All in all, State Farm seems to be dominating the twitter world when it comes to insurance stacked up against Allstate. In the world we live in today, State Farm has a competitive advantage over Allstate in the insurance industry. It was interesting to see the data and insights that the two companies have when it comes to the twitter world. To myself, coming from an Insurance family, this is interesting data. I have no connection to Allstate or State Farm, except stealing business from them. From my experience, Allstates has slightly better prices than State Farm. So this data was impressive in the fact that I was able to see the influence of State Farms marketing in the Twitter world compared to Allstate.
