These visualizations are part of an on-going research project looking into narrative and geography in Byzantine Chronicle of Theophanes “the Confessor”. The project is directed by Professor Torgerson at Wesleyan University. The visualizations were created by Weiliang Song and Rachel Chung. A blog post was written to contextualize and interpret these visualizations.
For Figure 2 through Figure 4, you can hover over data points on each graph to see their exact value. In the top left-hand corner, there are a variety of tools you can use to manipulate the graphs including zooming in and out and “panning” over graphs.
