Ethiopia

  • Second donation by Alibaba’s Jack Ma, to Africa is on its way. This will include 500 ventilators, 200,000 suits and face shields, 2,000 thermometers, one million swabs and extraction kits and 500,000 gloves to all 54 African countries. As the first shipment, the equipment will be shipped to Addis Ababa from where they will be distributed to the rest of the continent

Ghana

  • President has announces that the government will pay peoples’ water bills for the next three months as the country tries to combat the spread of coronavirus

Kenya

  • In a televised address, Kenyan president halts movement in affected areas, including capital Nairobi; cessation of movement within the Nairobi metropolitan area shall be for an initial containment period of 21 days with effect from 7pm, April 6

  • Farmers in Kenya have been struggling to sell their produce as some markets have closed and movements have been restricted in order to control the spread of coronavirus

Mali
