The Early Childhood Longitudinal Studies was a study to measure the academic grow of children in kindergarden through fifth grade. The study included a survey of each child and a very indepth and detailed interview with the parents, eachers and school adminisration.

Q2 Describe regression analysis in your own words.

Hint: A correct answer must have a discussion on a main concept of regression, often called as, “all else being equal”, “controlling for other variables”, or “Ceteris paribus”. The author explained this concept using “the circuit board analogy”.

A regression analysis is a tool that is used to find even the smallest correlation whether it be positive or negitive between two variables.

Q3 What is a drawback of regression analysis. What type of questions can regression analysis not answer?

Hint: A correct answer must have a discussion on causality versus correlation.

A drawback of Regression Analyises is that seeing it demestrates correlation, but does not give the cause of why the variables are correlated.

The role of quality of the schools is the concern for biases of test scores, but there are bad scores in even good schools.

Q5 Continued from Q4. How could you control for the quality of schools in the study?

Hint: For this question, you may need additional information in addition to the assigned reading. You may Google search someting like “how does regression control for variables”.

One could controll the quality of the school in the study by eliminating the race aspect of it so it looks at schools over all rather than what ethisity attends them.

the auther means that using regression is something that can not be prefeced but can be practiced and improved upon.

Some major takeaways are regressions does more than find correlations. It can give more information for starting a study.
