Working with MODIS Data (Part 1)

Part 1: Creating User Accounts

You will need to set up an Earth Explorer (USGS) account and an Earth data (NASA) account to download MODIS data. Make sure that you use the same username and password for both accounts.

Section 1: Create a USGS

Create a USGS User Account here click on create a new account, and follow the instructions below.

Section 2: Create a NASA User Account

Using the same username and password from before, create a NASA User Account here and follow the directions below.

Step 1: Use same credentials as in Section 1 - Step 1.

Step 5: Check your NASA User Account for Necessary Application

After you create your account, you may need to “authorize” the LP DAAC Data Pool application. On the Profile page in your Earthdata account you will need to select My Applications. On that page make sure the LP DAAC Data Pool is listed. In the case the application is not showing follow the steps in the Common Problem Page here
