Hi! My name is Juan Tan. Juan Tan I am currently a graduate student at Lindner College of Business, University of Cincinnati, majoring in Businee Analytics. I am expected to graduate early August 2020.

Academic Background

Professional Background

I worked at Shanghai Biochip Co. Ltd, which is a national biomedicine company, as a Technical Service Manager after my graduation from Ph,D. I had worked there for one and half years and my responsibilities include:

I then came to the United States to work as a postdoctoral fellow at University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine. My research project was to study the function of pRNA nanoparticles on sensitizing human breast cancer to lapatinib treatment. My work was to design and perform biological experiments, data collection, quality check and cleaning, exploration, visualization and report. I was also involved in drafting the book of “Estrogen receptor and breast cancer”

Experience in R

I started to teach myself R in summer 2018 and found data could be so fun. I was then enrolled in the Business Analytics program. During this period of time, I have been using R almost everyday, for EDA, statistical model building and machine learning.

Experience with Other Analytic Software

Aside from R, I am also quite familiar with other languages such as Python, SAS and SQL. During my Ph.D and postdoctoral years, I used DNAStar to perform DNA & RNA multiple sequence alignments and protein sequence analysis, Primer Premier to design PCR primers for gene amplification and sequence analysis. I use Microsoft Excel a lot to perform simulation and calculation. I also use Tableau to build fancy dashboards and sometime Spark for big data integrity and will learn more about them in the future.
