Hello, I am Kaustubh Saraf. I am currently enrolled in the Master’s in Business Analytics course at the University of Cincinnati. I am also working as a Graduate Assistant for the Center for Business Analytics. At the Center we help various industries solve real-world problem and enable them to make data driven decisions.
GPA:8.78/10GPA:3.92After completing my bachelor’s degree, I started working as a Decision Scientist at Mu Sigma Business Solutions, based in Bangalore, India. I worked with the largest home improvement retailer in the world and solved problems in the space of Assortment Planning, Space Planning, Customer Centric Pricing and Gift Card Analytics. I spent 3 years at Mu Sigma, post which I decided to explore a wider problem space and moved to Amazon as Business Intelligence Analyst. There I worked for around 9 months and I got to learn a lot of new things. Soon, I decided that I was geared up for formal education in the field of analytics and I started my Master’s in Business Analytics at UC. After I joined UC, I was also selected to work with the Center for Business Analytics. Working for the Center has been a great learning experience for me as I was using the knowledge gained during my course work to solve real-world problems.
During my initial professional life, most of my work was on SAS and SQL. I started using R once I moved to Amazon. I worked on couple of projects that used R and R Shiny. At the Center, we are working on a project which is totally based on R. Also, various courses that I have been studying are based on R, so I have started getting good hold on R. I am also planning to work more on R Shiny as it is more flexible and easier to use.
I mostly work on R and SQL for coding and Tableau for visualization. But I have extensively worked on SAS and I have started learning Python. To summarize, I have worked on the following tools apart from R and R Shiny:
