c-Jun is a transcription factor responsible for signal transduction in several signalling pathways, through phosphorylation (Dunn, Wiltshire, MacLaren & Gillespie, 2002). It is selectively phosphorylated by a Jun N-terminal kinase molecule which is instructed via the delta section of the c-Jun molecule (Dunn, Wiltshire, MacLaren & Gillespie, 2002). This activity has been important in research regarding the function of mitogen-activated protein kinases which are responsible for changes in gene transcription within cells (Dunn, Wiltshire, MacLaren & Gillespie, 2002).
