This hormone is mainly involved in the development of male features as it starts the process of creating male reproductive organs (Ashton, 2018). Its effects are seen mainly at puberty as the secondary effects are seen e.g. men growing beards (Ashton, 2018). However, females produce testosterone as well, although it is at a much lower concentration in the body of a healthy female (Ashton, 2018).
