In 2010 the Department of Health and Human Services included a goal of reducing the rate of Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID) in each state to 0.86 deaths per 1000 live births by the year 2020 as a part of the national Healthy People 2020 initiative. The map below shows which states had reached this goal by 2017, the year of the most recent published data.

Data used for this map is available through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Wonder Database. Some state results have been suppressed as the data does not meet the criteria for confidentiality constraints.
