Methods: Circular plots (250m2) are established based on the impact types from the volcano blast arrayed along transects. Additional transects are established from the center pole of the circular plot at 90o angles. Individuals were identified within quadrats placed along these secondary transects.

There are lots of different options in the LTER network. I highlight a few, but don’t be limited to considering just these sites. There are some really interesting datasets you could choose.

Some or all of these can be used to ask questions about community structure (e.g., what are the dominant species at a given point in time?) or ecosystem function (e.g., how does vegetation biomass change through time in relation to disturbance severity?).
