There are lots of options! Here are some examples:
This dataset has lots of interesting facets.
Dataset Location: Ecological Archives
Site Location: Mount St. Helens
Timespan: 1980-2009
Methods: Circular plots (250m2) are established based on the impact types from the volcano blast arrayed along transects. Additional transects are established from the center pole of the circular plot at 90o angles. Individuals were identified within quadrats placed along these secondary transects.
Data Collected: species, richness, plot cover, diversity, evenness, mean species frequency

I havent looked closely at what’s sepcifcally available, but this could be a cool dataset to explore.

There are lots of different options in the LTER network. I highlight a few, but don’t be limited to considering just these sites. There are some really interesting datasets you could choose.
The following table show the general variables common across LTER sites. There are lots of specific datasets nested within these.

Unpacking the “datatype” field, we see have a variety of specific variables:
|
name |
value |
|---|---|
|
1 |

|
2 |
count |
|
3 |
cover |
|
4 |
biomass |

5 |

6 |

Some or all of these can be used to ask questions about community structure (e.g., what are the dominant species at a given point in time?) or ecosystem function (e.g., how does vegetation biomass change through time in relation to disturbance severity?).
Here’s a table of LTER study titles with 30+ years of data.
