R is in high demand and has been in wide use in all disciplines including social sciences. Therefore, there is need to learn R for analyzing socio-economic data. The best way to learn/improve your R , tidyverse and econometric modeling in R skills is to practice exploring real data. Here’s a chance to do that with an expert! This is a two-day hands-on interactive workshop in Islamabad where we’ll code together using Gapminder, Labour Force Survey, Household Income Expenditure Survey Data and related data sets as a small group. We’ll see how to import, summarize, visualize and analyze dataset from start to finish in R, gaining experience with core tidyverse packages like ggplot2 and dplyr as well as econometric modeling using R.
Course cost is kept at very affordable and only tea with snacks/biscuits will be provided. Lunch can be provided at additional cost on request. Total Course Fee: Rs.3000 for students and Rs.5000 for non-students.All those who have attended Data Analysis Using Excel workshop will get 25% discount. And those who will attend this level-1 will get 25% discount for level-2 workshop.
I’m Zahid Asghar @zahedasghar, Professor, School of Economics with a wide experience of conducting trainings frequently on data analysis, econometrics and making sense of data using Excel, STATA, R etc . I emphasize a lot on making sense of data through data visualization and you can see tips and tricks for dataviz on my YouTube channel. For R related stuff, you may visit my RStudio supported website https://rpubs.com/zahidasghar . I think R and the tidyverse are amazing and powerful tools, and I love to share them with you.
What can I expect from this workshop?
For a full two-day (including an hour for lunch and tea breaks), we’ll go through a start-to-finish analysis of a real dataset like LFS and HICS for Pakistan. This will be a highly interactive session in a small group (no more than 20 attendees). All the data sets/slides/other material will be provided to students.
