I was motivated to answer the following question: What are the least equal concentrations by the proportion of male and female students? Over the last 10 years, the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences has been most unequal in terms of participation by men and women. Although in the last five years, there has been an increase in women concentrating in SEAS related disciplines, there still a sizable gap in gendered participation. Why is there such a large gap between Sciences and SEAS? How can Harvard encourage more equal participation in the academic disciplines?
