The article is about introducing the new metric for the modern NBA called RAPTOR, which is an acronym for Robust Algorithm (using) Player Tracking (and) On/Off Ratings.
RAPTOR loves Steph, Harden, CP3, and Kawhi. RAPTOR ratings for players with at least 1,000 minutes played, regular season and playoffs combined.
The RAPTOR_CURRENT data frame contains RAPTOR data for every player in the 2019-20 season.
What I am going to do is to extend to include for the current season of players who met the 1000 minutes played criteria and build another metric to understand which player is the best value pick before the trade deadline or for the upcoming offseason based on salary and production (RAPTOR TOTAL and WAR).
Methodology - since we have player_id, we should be able to pick up salary info from basketball-reference.com quite easily.
