This article introduces the idea of Google’s newest chatbot named Meena. Google claims that this is the most semantically accurate bot that can carry out a full back and forth conversation which Alexa and Siri cannot do. Alexa and Siri can answer questions and tell jokes but cannot execute a full converstation which Meena is attempting to fulfill using a Sensibleness and Specificity Average (SSA) metric which rates the sensibleness of Meena’s response. Through machine learning and natural language processing, Meena will be trained with great precision to respond the way that humans respond.
This chatbot will be used daily by people who want quick answers and explanations. Similar to Siri or Alexa, Meena will be used for users’ convenience to get the answers they want when they need them. The only difference between Meena and the existing technologies is the fact that Meena will be more semantically correct and able to hold a back and forth conversation. The bot will use natural language processing and machine learning to understand human neural networks and make decisions about how to respond appropriately.
I thought the article presented very interesting material. Considering how new the public release of Meena is, the article did a very good job of explaining the concept of Meena and the direction of intended progress. I still had some unanswered questions about when Meena will be released and how it would become accessible to the average Google user. However, the article was well-written and informative overall.
