Tidy Tuesday screencast: analyzing franchise revenue
Jul 22, 2019
Hint: What’s the source of the data; what does the row represent; how many observations?; what are the variables; and what do they mean?
321 Rows, revenue in billions, 103 different franchises, there are 7 different variables for all of the media. The row represents each franchise and how much money in billions it earned.
Hint: For example, importing data, understanding the data, data exploration, etc.
He started by importing the data then looked at how many rows were in the data set, he then anrrowed down the rows by limiting it to all media for any given frnachise together. He then checked to see which franchises had the most categories. He then looked tosee what owners were in different franchsies. He then created a table with distinct franchises. Hr then checked which franchises are the largest.
When watching the video, when he decided to make a graph of the biggest revenue earning franchises, I saw sem code that we had used in class. GGplot was what he used to show everyhting which franchises made the most revenue individually.
Pokemon alone is the most profitable franhcise of all time. It was something popular when I was younger and I know peopple who still like it, but I did not think it would be the most grossing franchise
I liked how he looked at different groups that have published multiple frnahcises in this data set. i recognized almost all of the data that he looked at. He looked at second top grossing group becasuse he didn’t recognize the name. i didn’t recognize the name of the publisher but I was able to recognize some of the franhcises underneath it.
