“The Riddler” screencast: simulating a week of rain
Dec 12, 2018
Hint: What’s the source of the data; what does the row represent; how many observations?; what are the variables; and what do they mean?
The source of the data is a Riddler express probability question that he is going to solve in R. The row represented the day he would be going to work and if it would be raining at night or durring the day and if he would need an umbrella. David had 1,000,000 rows of data.
Hint: For example, importing data, understanding the data, data exploration, etc.
This video was very hard to analyse each step david took along the way. He would go back and repeativly change the code. He created a simulation to determie the chance of rain through a 50 week spand. The simulation also told him weather or not it was going to rain at night or in the morning though out the weeks. David did not need to import any data because he was solving a question from the Riddler.
To be completely honest I saw glipses of code I recognized. However this code was so complex it was very hard for me to understand and get a full grasp of. He kept changing things around and deciding to go in a diffrent direction. Hard to follow. However when he made a graph I did recongize that and rememeber how to make a bar graph.
The major finding was that he would be able to make it the first 4 week without taking an umbrella to work.
The most intresting thing to me was how in depth you can actually get into with R. He built this very long code in less than 20 mins and was able to determine that it would not rain for 4 weeks.
