The latitude is in terms of degrees north of the equator while the longitude in degrees west of the Prime Meridian (with east positive).

Higher values of GDP are represented by colors closer to red while lower production is closer to blue and purple (so inverse relationship with color wavelength).

It is interesting to note the concentration of high income counties in California, especially LA county (although it does have highest population out of all counties).

Oakland seems to have the highest gross production in Michigan.
