Hi! I am Soumya from Mumbai, India; currently a full time student of Masters in Business Analytics from the University of Cincinnati. Prior to masters, I worked as an analytics professional in Mu Sigma.

Academic Background

Professional Background

Post completing my bachelors, I worked 40 months as a Decision Scientist for the largest pure play decision sciences firm Mu Sigma. The penchant for data and math was always present in me and I couldn’t have asked for a better opportunity. During my tenure, I got the opportunity to work on a variety of projects which helped build my acumen in understanding of business process flow, problem design and solution, data analysis and visualization, insight generation using the combination of statistics, technology and business.

One of my key learnings is to translate business problems into analytical questions and thereby enabling stakeholders to take data driven decisions based on actionable insights. Key projects of mine include developing a self serve platform, building churn propensity model, improve personalized marketing, etc. I also got the opportunity to lead and mentor teams along with serving as an SME for Tableau and SQL in the org.

After a lot of exploration, I wish to further build on the foundation in analytics I’ve gained at Mu Sigma and develop a solid knowledge base and skill-set to assist businesses. Therefore, an MS in BA felt the right next career choice.

Experience in R

From the later half of 2016 to mid 2017, R was the language I extensively worked on. The coding part was not very complex and most of it was written using dplyr. However, after getting a change in project, I rarely had the need of using R professionally (only one project in Q2 2018).

Experience with Other Analytic Software

I spent most of time performing EDAs, and building dashboards with Adobe tools and Tableau. Prior to that, I also worked with MS Excel and Power Query. For EDA, I have used SQL to data pull in entirety. Below are the tools I professionally worked on/learned during course:
