Hi, my name is Niharika Gupta and I am a current student at University of Cincinnati, pursuing Masters in Information Systems. I am a Dentist by background and my journey from being a Dentist to getting into a masters program in Information Systems has been challenging and at the same time exciting for me.

Educational Background

Professional Background

After graduating from Dental School, I worked as a Volunteer Dental Surgeon in a Charitable Hospital for a short stint and later realized I wanted to get into the feild of Drug safety. To pursue this career, I joined Parexel International, Chandigarh which is a US based pharmaceutical company. I joined Parexel as a Pharmacovigilance Analyst where I facilitated auditing, medical assessment, data collection, and regulatory quality assurance of safety data. I was actively involved in the analysis of Clinical Trial data of a drug for high cholesterol levels which was later approved and can be bought today at Walgreens and other pharmacies with the name Praluent. Working professionally in the field of drug safety, I was exposed to terabytes of patient information and thus stemmed my passion for data analysis. Information Technology in general had always interested me and I wanted to take my carrer forward in the feild of Information Technology. I moved to US in 2017 and spent a few months learning more about IT through online trainings to see if I really enjoy it or if I just like the idea of it. I absolutely enjoyed these trainings and so I knew what I had to do next. I applied for a master’s degree in Information Systems at various universities and here I am today.

Experience with R

The most experience I have with R is through self-learning and school-learning. I never got the chance to use R in a professional setting. I have completed a beginner level UDEMY training on R. Other than that I also had some experience analyzing data using R as a part of my Statistical Computing coursework. I am really excited to the language in depth in my Data Wrangling class.

Experience with other Analytical software

Coming from a heathcare background, I have no professional experience with any analytical softwares. I do have experience analyzing safety data but my job required good healthcare domain knowledge rather than technical skills. I worked on client provided databases like AWARE and ARGUS. However as a part of MSIS program and certain trainings that I did prior to joining the program, I have learnt or am going to learn the below analytical languages:
1. SAS (Statistical Computing)
2. R (UDEMY, Statistical Computing, Data Wrangling, Boot Camp)
3. Python (UDEMY and Boot camp)
4. Tableau (Data Visualization)
