Summary

This presentation describes my Shiny app “Dataset Exporer”, which allows users to select a dataset from the same-named package from R and then plot two of its variables via Plotly.

I borrowed the idea of selecting datasets from Hadley Wickham’s book “Mastering Shiny”: https://mastering-shiny.org/ and built on it.

How to use

  • Choose the dataset in the drop-down menu
  • Pick a column from that dataset to plot on X axis
  • Pick a column to plot on Y axis
  • The app will build a plot for you

What you can do

You can now explore the plot further by zooming in/out, selecting and capturing a particular section of the plot, saving a local copy and choosing a level of detail to be displayed.
