A student, planning to pursue master’s degree, was in a dilemma to choose which country was better in terms of providing employment once the degree was persuaded. This was due to the rise and fall in job availability in recent years. Apart from an education from a reputed university, the other key factor for employment is considered as the unemployment rate of that country. The student intended to make sure he secured a job once the degree was accomplished to justify the efforts put in gaining the degree. In achieving this, the student planned to view the unemployment rate of few developed countries in the world. The countries selected are Australia, Canada and United States of America. The data was fetched from publicly accessible database of world bank. To further increase the depth of the study, the student fetched two datasets viz, total unemployment rate and unemployment rate with advanced education. The years considered for this task were in between 2000 - 2018. This would give enough idea as to which country was in better position in terms of employment. The student would then select the country which had less unemployment in between these years.
While visualizing the unemployment rate of total labour force, the student found that the Canada has the highest unemployment rate than Australia and USA. The unemployment rate for USA has many ups and downs. But in the recent years, the rate was decreasing at a noticeable rate. The unemployment rate for Australia is majorly consistent throughout the years, with minor ups and downs, but is in much better position than Canada.
The unemployment rate with advanced education depicted the student that Canada has the highest unemployment rate than Australia and USA again. The USA is seeing many ups and downs but was getting more stable in the recent years with a constant decrease in unemployment rate. Here Australia was seeing a sharp decrease till 2007, but then the rate began increasing again.
Finally analysing both the data, the student finalises to opt for a master’s degree in United States which shows a better employment chances (lower unemployment rates)
