Usage and demographics

From launch to August 07, 2019, there have been 12 attempts and 8 completions of the WSUE simulation, for a completion rate of 67%. Data collected on users’ age ranges shows the following demographic breakdown:

Attitudes & Behaviors

As part of the simulation, adult users are asked to provide information on the number of days they drink per week and the number of drinks they have per day.

Days per Week N %
0 days 2 25%

Simulation Efficacy

Users were asked several questions to gauge the efficacy of the simulation.

Talking to Provider

One of the most meaningful metrics is the change in users’ comfort level when talking to their provider about alcohol use. At the beginning of the conversation, 20% of users reported being “Comfortable” or “Very comfortable” talking to their provider. By the end of the conversation, 50% of users reported being “Comfortable” or “Very comfortable” - a change of 30%.

Behavior Change

Toward the end of the conversation, users were also asked about their comfort with their current level of drinking and their likelihood of reducing that level of drinking.

Comfort with Drinking N %
Very uncomfortable 0 0%
Don’t feel comfortable 4 50%
Not sure if comfortable 2 25%
