Shiny

Shiny is an R package that allows for the creation of interactive apps through R.

We will utilize shiny to make an interactive plot that allows us to analyze a portion of the mtcars data set.

Consider the mtcars data set

Using Shiny

We use Shiny to illustrate the relationship between car horsepower (hp) and mpg. The user selects the value of hp, and we predict the estimated mpg for that given hp value.

Fitting the model

We fit a model using lm, and use the predict function for a given input value of hp.

fit.model=lm(mpg~hp,data=mtcars)
predict(fit.model,newdata=data.frame(hp=50))
