Mean Progression of Assessment Passages

NOTE: These results are PRELIMINARY. Please DO NOT CITE or DISTRIBUTE without author’s permission.

A set of graphs in each tab shows distribution of various text-feature scores for A-Z and LLI’s assessment passages. Fig 1 shows a progression of grade-level means for a certain text-feature variable, along with results from t-tests examining whether means at adjacent grade-levels are statistically different from one another. Asteriscs at the top indicate significance levels (at this time, adjustment for multiple comparisons has not been applied). Each dot indicates an assessment passage examined while hinges indicate standard errors.

For this analysis, instructional passages as well as all of Level A passages were excluded, resulting in a total of 78 passages grouped into five-grade groups (K, Gr1.1, Gr1.2, Gr2, and Gr3).
