Analysis

** The data is referrerd from the website:https://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/cag/global/mapping, which indicates ‘CLimate at a Glance’. ** The dashboard compares the avergae.tempurature across states in the U.S., anomalies across states in the U.S., anomalies along with certain time period from Global to U.S. only ** Anomaly: “Anomaly” indicates the dispersion from the real-time temp to the mean temp in long term, which means, if the value of Anomaly is getting bigger, the temp change of the place/certain time is more dramatic and significant

  1. Compare the Anomaly trend of Global change vs. U.S. only from 1900 to 2019 in August, the line of two charts reflect different trends. Global line reflects an up trending along with years while U.S. line reflects a relatively consistent value. In other words, compare to other countries, the change of U.S.temp is relatively stable.

  2. Both line charts (1. Avg.Temp in U.S. from 1900-2019 in August vs. 2. Anomly in U.S. from 1900-2019 in August) have spikes in 1937, 1983 and 2011, which could imply the historical highest temp in U.S. for the past 120 years. It might be affected by some environmental or humanity factors.

  3. Two maps shows the varied temp and temp change value breakdown by geograpy in U.S – southern part of the country are averagely hot while north-eastern part delivers slightly more significant temp change.
