Auckland Volcanic Field - South Up

New Zealand is on a fault line and thus features earthquake activity. Certain areas of New Zealand also feature volcanoes. Auckland is one of the largest cities in New Zealand, and it lies in the northern part of the North Island of New Zealand.

Setup

We'll set up a colored topographic (ish) map of Maunga Whau.
The pronunciation here sounds like "Mao" (Chairman Mao), "ng", "ah", and "foul" without the "l". The English name is Mt. Eden.
To make things slightly more interesting the map is colored with a random color scheme.

colorScheme <- sample(rownames(RColorBrewer::brewer.pal.info), 1)

Horizontal and vertical axes will refer to gridlines and are not indicative of latitude or longitude.

Volcanic Field Code

library(dplyr)
library(plotly)
f <- list(size = 16)
x <- list(title = "East-West Grid Lines",
          titlefont = f)
y <- list(title = "South-North Grid Lines",
          titlefont = f)
data("volcano")

plot_ly(z = volcano,
        type = 'heatmap',
        colors = colorScheme) %>%
layout(title = 'Topographic View of the Auckland, NZ Volcanic Field',
       xaxis = x, yaxis = y)
