INTRODUCTION

The University of Liberia customarily administers entrance and placement exams as part of the vetting process of admission. The test is intended to help determine selection of those who are at least capable of doing college course work without further high school preparation.

The exercises leading to this year 2019 SECOND ENTRANCE AND PLACEMENT EXAMINATIONS registration started on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, with the candidates initially going to the designated banks for payment of the registration fees and subsequently, the following working day, proceeding to the Center for Testing & Evaluation on Capitol Hill Campus, located in the GH Building (or, Business College) for registration completion. The registration exercises are expected to end on June 28, 2019.

DEFINITIONS OF KEY TERMS

  • COMPANY SCHOOLS : Those schools that are built and run by companies. The children of the company’s employees attend these schools.

  • COMMUNITY SCHOOLS: Those schools that are established or built through communiy initiative and/ or County Development Projects. These schools will later transition to public schools.

  • PRIVATE SCHOOLS : Those schools that are run or established by indiviuals.

  • FAITH-BASED SCHOOLS: Those schools that are run or established by religious institutions.

  • PUBLIC SCHOOLS : Government owned schools

  • BFO: Business and Finance Office

  • GS : Graduate Schools

  • COGS : College of General Studies

KEY FINDINGS

  • The total of five hundred eighty-four (584) candidates completed registration for the Second Entrance Exams from Undergraduate Colleges and the College of General Studies;

  • Of the total five hundred eighty-four (584) candidates completed registration for the Second Entrance Exams from Undergraduate Colleges and the College of General Studies, three hundred seventy-nine (379 or 64.9%) of them are males while two hundred five (205 or 35.1% ) are females;

  • Only 112 or 19.2% of the candidates that completed the Second Entrance registration from the Undergraduate Colleges are from Public Schools, 197or 33.7% are from the Private Schools, 264 or 45.2% are from the Faith-Based Schools, 9 or 1.5% are from the Company Schools while 2 or 0.3% are from the Community Schools;

  • Of those that completed registration from the Undergraduate Colleges, 78.60% of them are from schools located in Montserrado County; followed by Margibi County (6.16%), Nimba County(3.94%) , Lofa County(3.25%), Bong County with 2.05% , Grand Bassa County with 1.20% and Grand Gedeh County with 1.20%. The rest of the counties account for less than 1% of the candidates that completed registration;

  • 99.66% of the candidates that completed registration are Liberians while the rest are Nigerians;

  • 80.99% of the candidates that completed registration are High School Graduates while the rest are either Current 12th Graders(17.47%) or students from Other Universities(1.54%);

  • These findings are based on data already processed by our Data Entry Clerks from May 29, 2019 to June 15, 2019.

  • Bank Slips of candidates that made payment to the banks were verified by the Business and Finance Office(BFO) and fowarded to the Data Entry Clerks for recording;

  • Payment to the Banks will end on June 28, 2019;

Exams Dates

The Entrance Exams for the Graduate Schools, Medical School, School of Pharmacy, the Law School, College of General Studies, and SinJe Technical and Vocational School are scheduled for Saturday July 6, 2019.

The Entrance Exams for the Undergraduate Colleges are scheduled for Saturday July 13, 2019.
