mtcars dataset explorer

This presentation is created as a part of the peer assessment for the coursera developing data products class. The assignment is geared towards ensuring the following concepts were well understood by the students:

  • shiny to build data product application
  • R-Presentation Or Slidy to create data product pitch presentation

The Application

To display the understanding of using shiny to build an application, a simply application called mtcars dataset explorer has been developed and deplayed at: https://ritheshkumar95.shinyapps.io/DevelopingDataProducts

This application performs the following operations:

  • Select the inputs for the plot - Variable On X Axis, Variable on Y Axis, Grouping Variable
  • Displays ggplot2 output and rCharts plot

The Data

The application is based on the mtcars dataset.

Motor Trend Car Road Tests

The data was extracted from the 1974 Motor Trend US magazine, and comprises fuel consumption and 10 aspects of automobile design and performance for 32 automobiles (1973–74 models).

The source code for the project is available on Github
