Hello, my name is Robert Doerning. I am a full time Emergency Medicine physician at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and a part-time BANA student. I am interested in using machine learning to build predicitve models to help deliver better patient care.

Academic Background

Professional Background

During undergrad I worked as a research and design engineer at Eticon Endo Surgery. I knew during undergrad that I wanted to go to medical school and did a joint MD/MBA program at UC. After completing my MD I finished a four residency training program in Emergency Medicine at UC as well. I am an assistant professor in the College of Medicine and work clinically at three local hospitals as well train residents in emergency medicine. I became interested in data science and analytics during my residency training as a way to help predict patient outcomes and decrease overall morbidity and mortality.

Experience with R

R is frequently used in the clinical research setting so I have had a little bit of experience prior to the BANA program. However, my main experience with R comes from the BANA program. I use R mostly for regression modeling, data cleaning, and some simple machine learning but I really want to grow my experience with machine learning and neural networks.

Experience with Other Analytic Software

In addition to R and Excel I have some experience with:
