The acting was great by all cast members, the directing was on point, the writing was actually pretty good - without many plot issues one would normally expect, the cinematography perfect, the pacing was great, especially for the 107 min length, and the editing not too bad except for the flashbacks. My only critique was the terrible score, especially towards the last act. Had the score been more professional and consistent through out, the suspense would have been stellar instead of adequate. Overall an impressive film. A well deserved 8/10 from me.',8)"

## [1] "insert into movies_review (Movie_ID,User_name,Title,Content,rating) values(1,'dave-mcclain','an expectedly good thriller','\"Bad Samaritan\" R, 151 is a thriller directed by actor-turned-producer Dean Devlin \"Geostorm\", written by Brandon Boyce \"Wicker Park\" and starring television actor and erstwhile Dr. Who David Tennant. Theres a bit of horror in here too, but this film is primarily an intricately plotted thrill ride. The title character is named Sean Falco Irish actor Robert Sheehan, a young man whose step-father brought him and his mother to the U.S. because of a job opportunity for which Sean resents him. Sean is an aspiring photographer with a beautiful and intelligent college girlfriend named Riley Jacqueline Byers who knows nothing of Seans real passion - stealing. Sean and his best friend, Derek Carlito Olivero work as valets at an expensive Italian restaurant... which is where they choose their marks. As one of them mans the valet stand, the other uses the vehicles, GPS devices and garage door openers of their unsuspecting customers to rob the patrons homes, while theyre just trying to have a nice meal. One not-so-fine evening, after Derek has to abort his attempt to rob the home of one family enjoying a night out at the restaurant, its Seans turn. For his next victim, Sean chooses Cale Erendreich Tennant, a man who seems very rich... and very mean. As Sean is searching Cales home, he comes across a door with an unusually strong lock. He figures that a door secured that well, must have something especially valuable behind it. He uses Cales keys to gain entry and finds Cales computer - and a young woman Kerry Condon, who is gagged, bound with straps and chains and sitting in a chair bolted to the floor.Sean spends the rest of the movie trying to do right by Cales captive. Sean tries his best to free her, but Derek tells him via cell phone that Cale has come outside to get his car. Conflicted but panicked, Sean promises the girl that hell come back... and races back to the restaurant. This guy tries calling the police, breaking back into the house and any number of other things to save Cales victim, but its no small task going up against the highly intelligent Cale with his extraordinary attention to detail. This guy knows how to cover his tracks and seems to enjoy messing with the lives of anyone trying to stop his evil plans.\"Bad Samaritan\" is an unexpectedly good thriller. Tennant and Sheehan are terrific in the lead roles. The rest of the actors are pretty good, but the overall quality of the movie may have been improved with a more talented cast. Regardless, this films strength lies in its writing and directing. The plot has very few holes and plenty of twists and turns. The story is very well constructed and well executed, making the viewer sharply attentive, suitably tense and well rewarded with an entertaining cinematic experience. This film may fly under the radar of many Movie Fans, but its well worth the effort to seek it out. \"A-\"',8)"
## [1] "insert into movies_review (Movie_ID,User_name,Title,Content,rating) values(1,'neener3707','Done Before, But Not Too Bad, A Little Extra On The Formula','Over all not too shabby, definitely better than I expected. So yes its been done many times before, person or in this case; people break in to someones house for some ulterior motive, only to discover the home owner is either hiding something or is some sort of killer. But it throws a little extra into the formula, some works, the emphasis on the killer and his story was refreshing. But is it scary? Is it a horror movie? Because lately so called \"horror\" movies are indeed not scary at all. And as far as this film is concerned, Im not sure what I want to say, because some of it was effective, and some of it wasnt. First of all, I like how they expanded on the typical story line they were telling, and without giving to much away, it creates this admittedly tense cat and mouse chaotic situation for all parties involved, so I liked how it just didnt stick 100% to the \"Rear Window\" and \"Disturbia\" formulas. But was it scary? Id say it was in places and was not in some, it was as simple as that for me. Some of the scenes/situations/jumps got me, and I got a little tense, but some other scenes just didnt do it for me, maybe because Im so desensitized to brutal horror movies. The acting was also hit and miss, some actors did a fine job while others, were just... meh... And to be fair some of the good acting added to the intensity. I also didnt like some of the editing choices. I liked the color scheme of the film, the dark and deep colors, something you would expect from a James Wan or Hammer Films movies. I really want to say I liked it, because i definitely did like some of it, but some of it just didnt tickle my horror bone like it could have, but overall it was not too bad, much better than I expected.',7)"

Sean has a moral compass that guides his thievery and does not steal from \"good people\". Cale is a sociopath, lacking any conscience for the things he does wrong. Katie Kerry Condon is the tortured victim, taken and kept against her will.I felt for Seans plight, trying to save Katie. His desperation on-screen to bring Cale to justice and help Katie was palpable. I wanted to see him those he went to help him make all of this possible. I liked how his character was willing to do whatever it took to do what was necessary.Katie was a completely believable character. From the moment I met her, I wanted to jump through the screen and help her. She was nice and sweet, assisting Sean in any way she could. I hated seeing her treated as she was.Cale was brutal and sadistic. Cold, calculating, and unfeeling were the emotions that radiated from his presence. From the outside, hes not the kind of guy anyone would suspect of kidnapping. But upon crossing him, one would feel his wrath. Vengeance was his, and he dealt it out with his own way - and time. This movie is NOT for children. There is a lot of swearing and some nudity. Decisions are made on the characters part that make one wonder what they would do in the same situation.Though we never see the kidnapping happen, we see what has happened since, and it has been brutal. I couldnt wait to see how the movie would end. Once it concluded, I was satisfied.',9)"

His girlfriend Riley Seabrook Jacqueline Byers studies in a university and he is estranged of his stepfather. Sean and Derek are also smalltime burglars, stealing the houses of the costumers while they are eating in the restaurant. One day, the obnoxious client Cale Erendreich David Tennant arrives at the restaurant driving a Maserati and Sean drives his car back to his house using the computer and Derek watches Cale in the restaurant. While snooping around the house, Sean finds a locked room and when he opens the door, he stumbles upon a woman tied to a chair with chains and gagged. He unsuccessfully tries to release her but he is forced to return to the restaurant with the Maserati. Sean decides to call the police, but Cale lures the police officers and turns Sean´s life upside-down. \"Bad Samaritan\" is a surprisingly great thriller despite the clichés, with a full of action cat-and-mouse game and well-developed characters. The performance of David Tennant and the beauty of Jacqueline Byers are other attractions of this film. The director Dean Devlin gives the right pace to the screenplay, keeping the tension to the very end. My vote is eight.Title Brazil Not Available',8)"
## [1] "insert into movies_review (Movie_ID,User_name,Title,Content,rating) values(1,'Stars-and-popcorn','Bad Samaritan Plays it too Safe','Bad Samaritan is a movie that Ive been looking forward to for a few months. Ever since David Tennant gave his incredible performance as Kilgrave on the Marvel Netflix series Jessica Jones. The idea of him playing a totally demented psychopath had me giddy with anticipation. However, when it comes to this film thats about where the fun ends. Even with David Tennant playing the big bad wolf, he stumbles too much to save Bad Samaritan from being, well, a bad movie.I really wanted to like Bad Samaritan, especially because Im a sucker for a good horror movie that can make your skin crawl. There are definitely some moments in the film that will make audiences jump and cringe. However, a lot of those scenes that make you cringe are the ones where David Tennants American accent starts to slip. Im not sure why they decided to make his character American, possibly to make Robert Sheehans Irish accent stand out more, but its definitely not one of Tennants strong suits. There are plenty of other things that are cringeworthy in Bad Samaritan other than the occasional accent slip. Brandon Boyce tries to create a creepy serial character to act as the menacing villain of the movie, but fails miserably when it comes to his background. Tennants character, Cale Erendreich, is a unimaginably rich trust fund brat who was so obsessed with horses that breaking them no longer thriller him. So, he took to breaking humans much like horses. Its a premise for a serial killer that feels more suited to being a Criminal Minds psycho of the week than a big screen villain. Even ignoring the motives behind Erendreichs character, he never comes across as threatening. Sure he has money to throw at problems and proves to be incredibly cunning, but he lacks the right kind of presence for something like this. His performance though it incredibly chilling at certain times. Theres no question that Tennant is a great actor, but the character hes given to work with is kind of pathetic. The title of the film itself comes from the protagonist who is vallet that burgles peoples homes while theyre at dinner. Sheehan manages to make the character charming at times, but he feels incredibly out of place when it comes to this movie. For some reason the character is made Irish, which really doesnt add much to the overall story at all. More than that though he seems incredibly unsuited for the situation he finds himself in. The script makes him more bumbling than he needs to be when it comes to trying to convince the cops or those around him that Erendreich is a monster walking among them. Its just another one of the horror movie tropes that I cant stand. Then again, despite the fact that Bad Samaritan is riddled with cliches, it does get a few things right. With Tennant more focused on psychologically breaking his victims rather than just killing them off when they become problematic, it allows the stakes to continuously rise for the hero. His life is slowly taken apart by a man who is not only smart, but has the resources to destroy the struggling millennial. Its during this sequences of events that Tennant manages to do his best work. The scenes where he gives his maniacal rants though seem forced and cumbersome. In a lot of ways, Tennant does his best work in Bad Samaritan when he isnt talking. There isnt a lot in Bad Samaritan that we havent seen before in one way or another. Its filled with the same cliches from so many other horror movies/ thrillers and plays it safe for much of the film. In a way though, thats good because it pretty much follows a paint by numbers when it comes to what audiences like from these sorts of things. Though it stumbles from time to time because it tries to pound square pegs into round plot holes, there is enough salvageable here to at least let fans of the genre have some fun while watching it. Of course, if youre looking for something really scary then youre better off just skipping this one.',6)"
## [1] "insert into movies_review (Movie_ID,User_name,Title,Content,rating) values(1,'Platypuschow','Bad Samaritan Not half bad','David Tennant stars as the movies antagonist in a clever little thriller that deserves more recognition than it appears to have recieved. It tells the story of two friends who through their valet job proceed to rob people while they are at the restaurant. But on this occasion one of them finds a little more than he expected as the home contains a chained up woman. Now Bad Samaritan immediatly suffers from a flaw that a lot of movies have have lately. Namely protagonists that I cant care for. Why am I supposed to root for criminals? These people are robbing folks, why am I supposed to care about them? Sadly this has been a big thing lately and really badly needs to stop. The story is great, David Tennant is excellent As always and it all plays out really well. But our lead being a thief just kept nagging at me and bothered me considerably more than it perhaps should.Putting that aside I can confidently say Bad Samaritan is a smart little film, well constructed and well performed so if the bad protagonist thing doesnt bother you then its well worth your time. The GoodDavid TennantVery well made little thrillerSolid conceptThe BadUnlikeable protagonistThings I Learnt From This MovieDavid Tennant needs more high profile workBad guys need to play bad guys, thieves should not be the protagonistsWomen still havent established that allowing themselves to be photographed topless/naked is a bad idea',7)"

The only real complaint I have is that the bad guys backstory was dumb, and honestly would have been better off unexplained. This was been one of the best thriller movie I have seen realizing how good the camera and background sounds was all set up in accordingly. Also plus points for the casts they really gave justice to their own role. One thing Im lacking in this movie is how it ends that Ive just thought it will show the FBI finding out all the burried dead bodies at the backyard then it will be aired on the news and soon Seans gf and his family will finally understand what he had gone through in his situation, thats it.Thumbs up and hi5 for the director and producers of this movie. ## [1] "insert into movies_review (Movie_ID,User_name,Title,Content,rating) values(1,'rgkarim','A Samaritan to the Crime Drama Formula','With the success of the Avengers last weekend, it is hard for other movies to try and take follow such an impressive record. Still, another week comes with movies that are going to try and fight for their place in the silver screen. My first movie of the week is the latest Horror/Thriller to try and keep you on edge. Robbie K here with another round of writing to help you guys with your movie choices. Sit back and read on as I review Movie Bad Samaritan Director Dean DevlinWriter Brandon Boyce screenplay Stars Kerry Condon, David Tennant, Robert Sheehan LIKESDecent Pacing If youve read my work, you know I like movies that movie, which Bad Samaritan does. Ill admit it takes a while to lift off in an attempt to set the stage, but as the robbery goes bad and the thrills start, things start to pick up. From then on, it seems to move, only hitting rough patches of diverging slowness for small amounts before looping back to the story. Acting Another plus here, the cast has quite an art to helping keeps the audience invested in the story with performances that are quite believable and well developed. The secondary characters are fine for their limited appearances, but the two leads are by far the pillars of strength keeping this movie up. Sheehan as the protagonist plays the man at wits end quite well, a nice force of morale integrity with a drive to make changes his world needs. Its a nice puzzle of emotion and he was able to bring all the pieces together to make a protagonist you want to get behind. Yet its David Tennant who will most likely grab your attention. The former Barty Crouch Junior has taken his insanity up a level, still having that strategic genius of a serial killer, but this time being much louder and less subtle. Seeing how deep his madness goes is probably the only mystery at hand, as one tries to figure out what caused such devoted madness. The rivalry between these two is the relationship that drives the whole film, and certainly the thrilling component of the movie. Thrilling at Times The movie has a dark edge to it, and dark often brings thrills and suspense to the screen. Bad Samaritan has those moments that are real on the seat sequences that you crime show lovers enjoy. All of them attempt to make you jump and potentially look suspiciously over at your fellow audience member, but most of these moments are short lived. What does bring suspense though, is that feeling of unknown as to what Tennants character will do next. That uneasiness is truly the source of the thrills in the movie and perhaps one of the more realistic scares of the year in movies. DISLIKES Predictable What drowns the movies suspense is how linear and predictable this film is. Bad Samaritan holds few surprises in this regard, much of the plot can be seen from a mile away and seldom surprising me outside of how short some of the suspense moments are. Its much of the same story that crime shows love to take full advantage of in their relentless need for repeats. Lacking Villain Development The extent of his madness is visible in this film, his back story, not so much. Bad Samaritans villain is just shown as crazy, with only fleeting memories of animal torture another thing I hate to give you any sort of understanding. Eventually, the bomb is dropped into the incident that developed his psychopathic tendencies arose, but its only in the form of a three-sentence part to wrap it all up. This lack of details and impasses to uncover his history means one thing... boring. Part of the fun of a thriller is getting more insight to the monster at hand and it just didnt deliver in this movie. Underutilization of secondary characters Sigh, the protagonist had so many connections set up at the beginning, each an important cog to Sheehans characters life, but also a valuable pawn in the killers game of chess. Unfortunately, these pieces are super underdeveloped, dropped in for only small time talk before quickly being used for more life altering madness. Most of these stints are just flown over, but a couple do try to bring that nasty bite to get you feeling the pain they want you to. Had more of these guys been brought into the game, Bad Samaritan may have again developed the edge it needed. The Stupidity/Mistakes Bad Samaritan falls into the usual trepidations of characters making stupid decisions and paying heavily for it. These bad decisions are essentially the core of the movie, and while a few could be appreciated, some of these moments were sheer displays of how dumb the writing was at times. How did this master of seduction/schmoozing screw up so much for this kid to best him? Why would they be so stupid to leave obvious clues? Why were the cops so ruthlessly dumb/ignorant? Its just those background noises they want you to annoy, but in this movie that is hard to do given the set up they make. The inconsistencies are a tad annoying to me at times. The Ending Sigh, another movie that is left to tease and feel unfinished. Bad Samaritans final moments are rushed display of mistakes, coincidental serendipity, and a sudden cut to black worthy of the Sopranos. It opens the possibilities for another installment yet could provide lackluster closure to those who want it. Nevertheless, this film didnt quite end as strongly as one would hope, leaving many questions unanswered, and many ties still unknotted. The VERDICT Bad Samaritan is an okay movie, capable of finding ways to make you jump and trying to keep you engaged in this manhunt. With good acting and a good pace, the movie certainly feels like a crime show that has a film worthy budget. Yet, the movie still holds some rather big deficits that rob it of the thriller aspect it wanted to bring. More character development and suspense are going to be needed for further installments, but it at least sets the stage. Worth a trip to the movies? Cant say it is for me but give it a shot at home to not worry about being robbed of your money for an anticlimactic ending. My scores areHorror/Thriller 7.0Movie Overall 6.5',7)"

And besides David Tennant, theres really no big name here at all and there wasnt a single bit of marketing that I saw, so theres that. Really, Bad Samaritan will likely be a film that comes and goes and never knows that it existed. However, I actually thought it was a pretty well made film. Granted, it starts to fall apart after the hour mark, but if youre just looking for a cheap thrill with some fun performances, creepy imagery, and good time at the theater, then look no further than Bad Samaritan. While in an attempted burglary, our main character finds himself in the home of a serial killer where there is an abducted woman chained up, pleading for help. He tries to free her but cant. He returns the car to the owner then makes an anonymous call to 911. He returns to the home in an attempt to make sure that the girl is rescued but the officer leave the scene without her. By now the serial killer knows what is going on and starts to turn the tables onto our main character. This was so much better than I thought it would be. The idea was fresh, at least to me, and it was a well made movie. The actors did a great job and the serial killer gave off a Charlie Sheen vibe. He looked and acted alot like Sheen. Robert and Carlito are two guys that work as valet parking attendants that are not on the up & up. They park your car and then steal anything they can find. The sheer amount of star power alone in this film is insane; and they do a masterful job of weaving all these unique and various characters into a common storyline.',10)"
## [1] "insert into movies_review (Movie_ID,User_name,Title,Content,rating) values(2,'shawneofthedead','This movie will blow your mind and break your heart - and make you desperate to go back for more. Brave, brilliant and better than it has any right to be.','Over the past decade, Marvel has earned itself the benefit of the doubt. The studio has consistently delivered smart, funny, brave films that both embrace and transcend their comic-book origins. The 18 blockbuster movies produced since Iron Man first blasted off into the stratosphere in 2008 have not only reinvented superhero films as a genre - theyve helped to legitimise it. Indeed, Marvels two most recent films - Thor Ragnarok and Black Panther - have received the kind of accolades usually reserved for edgy arthouse flicks. And yet, its perfectly reasonable to be apprehensive about Avengers Infinity War. This is a blockbuster film thats been ten years in the making, its plot hinted at and scattered throughout 18 other movies. It features 30 or so characters, each with their own complex backstories and motivations. And all of them are coming together in a bid to stop a giant purple alien dude from destroying the universe. It sounds ridiculous, and feels impossible. But thats precisely what makes the final product such a monumental achievement. Masterfully directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Infinity War is bold, brainy filmmaking at its very best the kind that will lift your spirits, blow your mind and shatter your soul - occasionally in the same scene. It demonstrates on an epic scale what Marvel has known all along that special effects and tightly choreographed action are there to serve the story. For all its blockbuster spectacle and theres almost too much of that, the film works because its anchored by the heart, humour and humanity of its characters. The films basic plot is simple Thanos played via motion-capture by Josh Brolin, intergalactic purveyor of death and destruction, has long been on the hunt for the six Infinity Stones that will give him complete control over the elemental building blocks of the universe. He dispatches his acolytes to Earth to retrieve the Time Stone, currently in the possession of Dr. Stephen Strange Benedict Cumberbatch, and carve the Mind Stone out of the forehead of Vision Paul Bettany. Its a literal existential threat so terrifying that all the heroes weve come to know and love - from the Avengers to the Guardians of the Galaxy - must put aside their differences and unite against a common foe. From the outset, its immediately clear that neither the films directors nor screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely are interested in playing it safe. Most other superhero films are bled of high stakes - the hero in the title might suffer untold trauma, but its a super-safe bet that he or she will make it to the end alive. Theres no such guarantee here. Within the first ten minutes, we are confronted with the dark, twisted depths to which Thanos and his acolytes in the Black Order will sink in order to achieve their goals. Death, as well as genuine loss and sacrifice, is intrinsic to the narrative drumbeat that drives Infinity War ever forward, and the film is all the better for it. Thats not to say the movie is a morbid and depressing experience. Whats so impressive about Infinity War is how it expertly juggles its constantly shifting tones and moods. When its funny and it very often is, its deeply, truly funny. The film finds maximum joy in flinging characters together with merry abandon, mixing and matching ones youd never have expected to share scenes or trade banter. Peter Quill Chris Pratt is floored by Thors Chris Hemsworth godly muscles. Bruce Banner Mark Ruffalo is charmed by the wit and intelligence of Shuri Letitia Wright. And itd be impossible to not be utterly delighted by Peter Dinklages inspired cameo. Its a blithely tongue-in-cheek sensibility shared by Marvels best comic books, which understand that humour can make you care when it really counts. And, boy, does Infinity War make it count. There are many heartbreakingly human moments threaded throughout the film from the charming surrogate father-son dynamic shared by Tony Stark Robert Downey Jr and Peter Parker Tom Holland, to the undeniable love that ties Vision and Wanda Maximoff Elizabeth Olsen together. In many ways, the film stands as a testament to the human capacity not just to love, but to love fiercely and beyond all logic. Its right there when the unfailingly noble Steve Rogers Chris Evans declares, \"We dont trade lives\", even when giving up one could save billions. Theres even a chilling echo of it in Thanos himself. A lesser film would have turned Thanos into a one-dimensional villain, much the way hes all monster and maniac in the comic books. In Infinity War, however, Thanos end goal is surprisingly relevant when it comes to thinking and talking about the staggeringly overpopulated world in which we live today. There is, as it turns out, method to Thanos madness. It makes the tragic twists and turns in his relationships with his estranged adopted daughters, Gamora Zoe Saldana and Nebula Karen Gillan, all the more unsettling. For the most part, Infinity War does justice, too, to the many heroes who have been assembled for the film. The Russo brothers displayed great skill at interweaving multiple perspectives and character trajectories in Captain America Civil War, and they do so again here, with twice as many characters. Even the most minor of supporting players, like Don Cheadles James Rhodes/War Machine, are given story beats that land. It helps that Marvel has always taken care to cast genuinely good actors in roles that might otherwise come off as silly and slight. Even so, there are a few standouts amongst this enormous and enormously talented cast. Emotionally speaking, this is Downeys film. He plays every note of Tonys reluctant courage and bone-deep trauma, as he embarks on what hes convinced is a suicide mission. Hes ably matched by Cumberbatch, who finds vulnerability even in his characters most cunning and calculative move. Hemsworth, meanwhile, is given free rein to import the big-hearted comedic swagger of Thor Ragnarok into this film - while also layering it with a deeply-felt, jagged grief for the losses he has suffered at the hands of Thanos and the universe. In a film with so many moving parts, some elements dont work quite as well. A couple of characters that you might have expected to be right at the forefront - including an original Avenger or two - fade into the background. The film tumbles from dizzying fight scene to dizzying fight scene, and while most of them are fantastically choreographed, there are some purely dumb moments that literally revolve around attempts to prevent Thanos from clenching his fist. In effect, this is a superhero mêlée thats part over-the-top and part overkill, and might prove too much for those who dont already care for this franchise and the characters in it.Minor quibbles aside, though, Infinity War is yet another step in the right direction for Marvel. It continues the studios tradition of placing a premium on rich, complex storytelling that respects both its characters and its audiences. But it also refuses to make things easy for itself. The film ends even more bravely than it began, with a final ten minutes that will haunt and horrify you in equal measure. Its a stroke of bold, brilliant genius - a narrative risk so audacious that youll want to follow Marvel wherever it goes next.',10)"

## [1] "insert into movies_review (Movie_ID,User_name,Title,Content,rating) values(2,'garethvk','A Summer Film That IS Even Better Than The Hype','Summer movies often hype themselves as spectacular events not to be missed and their ad campaigns use words like \"epic\", \"spectacle\", and \"smash\" as ways to build the hype to increase advanced box office sales. The summer 2018 film season kicks off in a big way with \"Avengers Infinity War\" and it is the rare summer film that exceeds is lofty expectations and delivers a crowning achievement for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. When Thanos Josh Brolin, embarks on a deadly campaign to find and possess the Infinity Stones, he leaves a path of death and destruction in his path. When his pursuit leading him to Earth, Bruce Banner Mark Ruffalo, and Doctor Strange Benedict Cumberbatch, who enlist a reluctant Tony Stark Robert Downey Jr., to the cause just as the minions of Thanos arrive. With The Avengers fractured and scattered following the events of \"Captain America Civil War\" the teams find themselves dealing with the threat in various groups as fate steps in to divide many key members of the team. This allows for a great entry by the Guardians of the Galaxy and allows the film to take a very enjoyable path. Essentially the movie weaves separate storylines into one cohesive and very satisfying epic. You have a story with the Guardians as well as one with many of the key Avengers, as well as others with characters old and new. As such it is like a Guardians, Avengers, and Marvel film all rolled into one and each one supports the other very well yet has the charm and identity you would expect. While the tone is very dark as you would expect with literally half of the known universe facing destruction, there is also some solid humor in the film that never once undermines the story or pacing.Naturally the effects are stunning as you would expect as Marvel has put a significant amount of money into the film and it shows in every eye-popping action sequence. What really impressed me the most was that the Russo Brothers never let the FX of the film overshadow the characters and with a very large cast, it was nice to see everyone got their moment and you did not see members of the cast trying to one up each other. There are some real surprise moments along the way and the action is easily the best of any Marvel film to date. Many fans had expressed disappointment with \"Avengers Age of Ultron\" for me this film is significantly better than the prior film and is everything that a Marvel fan would want in a film.I was also surprised by how well Thanos was portrayed as while you hopefully will not agree with his deductions and methods; you could actually understand his motivations and it help him transcend from the usual megalomaniacs which are so common in films of his type. I am really looking forward to seeing what comes next and make sure you stay through the credits for a bonus scene.Believe the hype, \"Avengers Infinity War\" is an epic not to be missed and is an example of what a summer event film should be.5 stars out of 5',10)"

Every single one of those ratings and reviews should be taken down and not added to the rating for Infinity War because of their fundamental lack of understanding. Its like coming in and watching the last 2 minutes of an hour long drama show and saying this episode sucks because it has no plot. Its utterly ridiculous! There have been 31 marvel movies leading up to this point. All 31 has have some plot that leads to infinity war. Infinity War IS the end game movie. There is nothing left to explain, nothing left to discuss, it is all-out fight for control of the most powerful items in existence, the infinity stones. There have been 31 movies to explain in someway the power of these stones and/or the heroes that come together to fight Thanos in this movie. Its like a long game of chess where Thanos finally makes his move, and its a huge one.So I beg of any of you who reads this. Dont listen to anyone who says this movie has no plot, has no reason and is only fighting. They arent worth listening to, Infinity Wars has roughly 60 hours of plot from 31 precious movies leading up to this monumental fight for life or death, and the movie is done to near perfection. The movie is glorious, the CGI is fantastic, the battles are awe-inspiring, and Thanos is made worth of your fear from the very beginning. It was intense, action-packed and emotional. Also delivering comedy when needed, but it was a relatively dark film. All of the actors delivered great performances and the characters continue to be fleshed out and be made human despite the fact that theyre superheroes. This is easily the best superhero movie ever made. Thanos is one of the best villains of the MCU, as well as one of the best of Cinematic history in general. Upon first viewing, I hated him, but found his character intriguing. Similar to Emperor Palpatine in the Original and Prequel trilogies of Star Wars. The more times I rewatch it though, I start to understand Thanos point of view more and more. The blurred lines with his motivations make the movie more compelling. Even driving some people to say that Thanos was right in all this. I wouldnt go that far, but I would say his character is misunderstood. Definitely a compelling villain in Thanos. The ending of the movie was insanely emotional, but I love how they mainly set aside the original Avengers team to take on Thanos in the fourth Avengers movie. I, for one, cannot wait. That eerie \"Thanos will return\" at the end of the film sent a chill down my spine. It truly is the end game now, and I cant wait to see the Avengers rise up and likely defeat Thanos in the next movie.+Every Hero has their moment to shine Much like the villain wants, the movie achieves balance in this way+Good Comedic moments to balance again pun intended the dark tone of the film+Emotional and Heavy ending Seeing Earths Mightiest fail is something devastating to watch+Complete hype moments that reward you for being a fan of this franchise for 10 years+Incredible performances+Phenomenal original score Etc. Not much you can find thats wrong with this movie. Its literally the perfect movie Marvel has been building up to for 10 years. The action is thick and fast, despite the dark overtone we have plenty of comedy and teenage Groot didnt ruin the film like I feared he would.Obviously this is not a big finale and merely a high profile chapter in a much larger story but the movie is highly climatic regardless.I am saddened that this wasnt a two parter, alike Civil War 2016 this was a huge story and perhaps should have been broken up across movies.Infinity War is a contender for the best Marvel movie and instead of feeling burnt out after the never ending stream of films this has wet my appetite for more and I cant wait for the next film.Excellent stuff, though where in the blue hell was Ant Man?The GoodChildren of ThanosThanosAll out action as expectedTies everything together nicelyThe BadPeter Dinklage Never thought Id say thatSo many characters were spread too thinThings I Learnt From This MovieIf Thanos and Cable ever meet its going to be super weirdDishonest footage/photos are commonplace now Look up the footage of Hulk in Wakanda running with the rest of the team Seriously, never happened.Somewhere out there right now are DC fans claiming this is a bad film',9)"

I went to him twice, the first time, myself, and the second with the family, and I was even surprised that my mother, sister and dad who do not understand this movie at all brought unreal pleasure and an ocean of emotions. Each frame, each scene does not let you get bored, from the Marvel logo, and to the stage after the credits. Favorite heroes once again experienced side by side and you feel it, you are completely absorbed in a hurricane of events and you are watching it in one breath. In comparison with the War of Infinity, even the Confrontation looks like an ordinary fight in the sandbox.Uuuu, and the villain, the best as for me the best in this kirovoveselennoy, he is not just a bot at once, without motivation, no, its just the opposite. I liked Thanos so much that you do not want to, and he began to impress me, in terms of his convictions I had it only once, with Joker Heath Ledger. He has feelings, he makes choices, hes alive.Tense scenes are beautiful, in one moment I still let off a meager male tear and this happens to me very, very rarely. What about the humor, the jokes are correct for me, and they do not bother you like Thor Ragnarok, although in the beginning they look a little tight. Well, the action, it is very high-quality, and in comparison with the Black Panther is generally ideal. And of course the film can not be without punctures. The lack of predictability of some story lines, and a couple of moments that were very predictable, but they are fade against the background of all this scale.Yes, you will not find anything in this film about something, something, but, what, what, what, steep humor. ## [1] "insert into movies_review (Movie_ID,User_name,Title,Content,rating) values(2,'oliverdimitri','THE BEST SUPERHERO MOVIE EVER!!','Engrossing, Epic, Emotional. Those are the three Es that define this movie. The latest instalment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise is at its very best, culminating ten years of marvel adventure and spectacle with the biggest and most boldest movie in the superhero genre. So lets start with Anthony and Joe Russo, the geniuses that made this beast of a movie. After announcing that they will be directing the next two Avengers movies, Marvel fans knew at once that this will be the darkest Avengers movie yet. Yes, it was very dark with more of a serious tone. More than Winter Soldier and Civil War previous marvel movies directed by the Russo Bothers combined but they also had what the other Avengers movies had as well, the humour and it was not at all tasteless. Nobody really cared if it was necessary or not because the humour worked along with the edgy parts of the movie. This is by far the Russo brothers best work among the Marvel movies completely raising the bar of superhero movies to its highest. Praise to Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely for writing the amazing script they also wrote the scripts of Captain America, The Avengers, Winter Soldier, Age of Ultron and Civil War also known to be the best marvel movies. Now, the characters and story. Practically everyone that youve seen in the previous marvel movies that arent dead, are in this movie. Everyone had the chance to shine even if its the smallest way possible. There were so many character arcs in this movie and none of them were cut short or boring. Every scene is in the movie was worth digesting and deciphering, along with the surprises and the twists and turns that will get audiences on the edge of their seat. Everything from character development to the pacing of the storyline, makes you jump, scream, gasp or cry. And of course, the one and only, Thanos. The villain that has been teased one too many times is finally here and he delivers. Josh Brolin officially portrays the best villain in the MCU, completely pissing on Marvels villain problem. He brings all out on the table with everything hes got. Not only will you hate Thanos by the end of the movie, but you will understand him and maybe even feel sorry for him for a few seconds. They brought layers into him that no one has seen in a movie portrayal of a Marvel villain. They made him scary and strong at the same time vulnerable and understandable. The motivation of his doing and his character development made him the best character in the movie, making the movie all about him. I cannot tell you anymore about this movie because then I would be spoiling. All I have to say is that whether youre a marvel fan or not, and if you at least know what has been going on in the previous marvel movies, GO AND WATCH IT. It will not be a waste of your time or money. Digest this to prepare for whats to come. I may be bias once again but I just have to. I have to rate this movie 10/10. If I dont, I would be betraying myself.',10)"

Ive never done a review of a movie before, Ive only done TV shows. So bare with me, Im gonna discuss the major points and chuck in a theory or two. But to start off...Wow. This film could be the best Marvel movie ever! But I will give it a few days to digest and probably a second viewing before deciding on that. It absolutely lived up to the 10 year build up since Iron Man 1, how far weve come in a quick 10 years is remarkable. The Thanos character absolutely hit the mark. He was menacing, intimidating, vicious and so much more. Props to the actor who played him. Thanos plan succeeds for the time being and we get a whole lot of \"death\" because of it. In this movie there was death, and \"death\". The former refers to characters such as Loki, Vision and Gamora. We saw these characters die and there bodies be left behind. For this movie not to lose credibility, these characters, in my opinion, must remain dead. Now \"death\" refers to what we saw at the end, Thanos, with all infinity stones, clicked his fingers and half of humanity, including half of the avengers important to note that all the original avengers are still alive dissolved into dust giving the impression of death. I expect these characters to come back at some point during the next Avengers film, most likely due to the originals saving them. My final theory regards Doctor Strange. On the ship with Stark and Spidey, Strange said that if it came to it he would save his stone over Stark and Spideys lives. However, in the end we see Strange give up the stone to Thanos on the condition Stark stay alive. My prediction is that when Strange saw all the possible futures, the only future in which they win must heavily rely on Tony Stark. Which makes sense, Tony started it all so he should finish it. Incredible film, cant wait for the next one to see how it all resolves. 9.8/10',10)"

Pure popcorn...now in the dictionary under \"popcorn film\" is just the poster for this film. Somehow, the Russo Brothers have juggled all the parts to give everyone some time in the sun. They are helped immensely by two things the premise is so pure Mcguffin that you just watch Thanos look for Infinity Stones which gives a primal momentum and that the films stars/characters are looking to move on - that means, actual stakes for once as people could really die and not just comic book dying either. The DC people must be kicking themselves. The lightness and comedic touches are brilliant. You are laughing out loud, comedy level, but at totally organic character humour. It means you are so entertained throughout its rather long running time. The other big surprise is Thanos himself. Normally, I hate CGI characters but somehow they have made Thanos and Josh Brolin work enough to give the character an actual arc. This is one of the better MCU villains and I never thought I would write that. The stakes are real, the charisma levels are amazing, it is like \"Oceans 28\" and I cant wait for the sequel...that says an enormous amount considering the challenges this film faced.',9)"

## [1] "insert into movies_review (Movie_ID,User_name,Title,Content,rating) values(2,'pjgs200','An objective review of Avengers Infinity War','I dont mean to be negative here, but Avengers Infinity Wars 8.9 on IMDb is entirely undeserved. Marvel superfan or not, this movie has nothing on films like The Dark Night, La La Land, Pulp Fiction, or Inception, all films which it either outranks based on its 8.9 rating or comes close to. I get that there was an insane amount of hype around this film, and its awesome to see our favorite Marvel characters come together The Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor, Spiderman, Captain America, Black Panther, etc., but we shouldnt let our excitement over all of our favorite characters coming together cloud the fact that \"Avengers Infinity War\" is an overly long movie that relies on cheap, unbelievable deaths to generate excitement and that isnt particularly well written or edited. I commend the directors and writers on being able to successfully interweave so many stories, but the movie just felt too long. Its fight scene after fight scene, and while the performances are good and the script is pretty funny, the film isnt really original and its only redeeming factor is that its full of characters we all know and love. Its funny to see Thor poke fun at the Guardians of the Galaxy and to see Iron Man and Spiderman interact with Doctor Strange, but when we look at the film objectively, its really just a standard superhero film with more superheroes than normal that relies on cheap plot twists to generate excitement and emotion. No matter how much we love Marvel, we all know that theres no way any of the characters who \"died\" are actually going to die. The filmmakers expect us to believe that Black Panther who just made Marvel over one billion dollars, Spiderman, and the Guardians of the Galaxy have all met the end of their respective stories, even when there are publicly announced sequels for all three franchises. I hate to say it, but all the character deaths at the end are just there for shock value, and its cheap. From a technical perspective, the fight scenes are directed well, but thats about it. The editing isnt particularly great and the film feels too long at 2 hours and 40 minutes. I feel like half of the time spent hopping from planet to planet could have been cut and the movie would have been about as good if not better. OVERALL \"Avengers Infinity War\" could have been amazing, but its too long and relies on cheap deaths to generate hype. This film is not deserving of its 8.9 rating on IMDb. I think that Captain America Civil War was a much better movie.6.5 out of 10.',7)"
## [1] "insert into movies_review (Movie_ID,User_name,Title,Content,rating) values(2,'milleniumlogan','Overrated and bloated','This movie was an underwhelming, chaotic blend of several different movies. Im going to break down several of the different elements of the movie and why they either worked or really did not work. Ill start with the villainThanos, as a whole, is a pretty good villain. He is intimidating and the movie gave him a good script. The problem is that his powers are so freakin inconsistent. Guardians of the Galaxy already established just how powerful infinity stones are, but Infinity War seems to forget that. In the battle on Titan, Iron Man and about five others are able to hold Thanos down and nearly get his gauntlet off. At this point, Thanos has four infinity stones. Sorry, but there is no way they could restrain him at that point. Infinity War also includes four other villains which the directors apparently felt had no need for an introduction. Collectively, they are called the Black Order or dark order and their names are never said so, Ill give them nicknames. There is Noseless the Terriblewho is terrible, Avatar Lady with Horns also terrible, Rock Dude basically Korg but bigger with a goatee, and Guy with Pointy Axe. The only people who understand who the heck these characters are, are Marvel comic fans. The biggest problem with Infinity War is the character developments and inconsistencies. Ill describe the worst casesStar-Lord When the first Guardians of the Galaxy came out, Star-Lord was a great character. Infinity War completely ruins him. He turns into a jealous jerk and an actual idiot. There are brief flashes of the old Star-Lord but mostly he is just a character that you despise. At one point during the battle on Titan Thanoss home planet, Iron Man, Doctor Strange, and the Guardians of the Galaxy have Thanos held down and they nearly remove his gauntlet which makes no sense in the first place because at this point Thanos has four feakin infinity stones. As they are removing the glove from Thanoss hand, Star-Lord finds out that Thanos killed Gamora earlier in the movie. Star-Lord then starts punching him and this wakes him up from Mantiss mind powers and this time he demolishes them before going on to destroy half the galaxy. Vision The development of Vision is also really, really bad. In Age of Ultron he is strong enough to wield Thors hammer but in Infinity War, he has developed and updated to the point that he never wins a single fight against anyone because it fits the plot. Thor So in Thor Ragnarok it was established that Thor is the god of thunder and doesnt need a hammer to be powerful. Then in Infinity War they completely forget this and make him get tossed around like a ragdoll. In fact, he never even uses his lightning abilities until he forges his new weapon. Did the directors forget about what got established in Ragnarok or did they just make Thor weak because once again it fits the plot and Marvel can get away with whatever the heck they want?Scarlet Witch Wow! Her character was inconsistent. One minute she is getting demolished by some dark order member and the next she is holding off Thanos who has five infinity stones at this point for an extended period of time. Once again her powers are only as powerful as the directors need them to be for any given scene. Hulk So apparently the Hulk is now scared to come out? Ahh, poor little guy. This is a terrible plot twist and really doesnt make much sense. Another thing that did not work about this movie was the sheer amount of characters. I was worried that it might be too many and it was. As a result, there were too many different subplots going on and they couldnt even have one final battle. They had to have two climactic battles going on at one time and the result was a bloated mass of CGI filled action for the last forty-five minutes of the movie. Now, Ill discuss the action in the movie by rating each of the major battles with a brief descriptionNew York battle 2/10 This battle was absolutely terrible. Noseless the Terrible comes in with the Rock Dude and tears up the city to take Doctor Strange away and nothing about the action is even slightly thrilling. The action in Alicia Vikanders Tomb Raider was better than the action in this battle.Wakanda battle 8/10 This battle was actually pretty thrilling with great background music and some really cool action. The first half of this battle is a lot better than the second though. It also gets annoying because its only fed to you in short segments while flashing back to the battle on Titan or Thor forging his hammer-axe-thingy. Overall though, this battle was good and part of the reason that I give Infinity War a 6 and not something much lower.Battle on Titan 6/10 While, there is some good action in this battle, there are also a ton of inconsistencies revolving around Thanos and how powerful he is. Overall, I wasnt super impressed.I also need to discuss Thanoss plan for a second. He wants to wipe out half of the universes population because the universe is overcrowded. Then he can finally rest. Did he think of the fact that the universe will repopulate again and all his hard work will be for nothing? I definitely prefer a storyline that involves the threat of total destruction of earth. Finally, I am going to discuss the characters that are killed in the movie and why it makes Avengers 4 really predictable. So at the end of the movie, Thanos snaps his fingers with all the infinity stones and half of the universe is killed. Somehow by random selection, all the original avengers survive. The odds of that happening are 1 in 64 assuming Hawkeye survived the dreaded finger snap of Thanos or 1 in 32 if he died while having his epic gaming session with friends guess he got bored of the whole avengers thing. The characters that die are almost all new characters like Black Panther, Spiderman, Doctor Strange, etc. Several of these characters already have planned sequels so we know they are going to come back when the original Avengers find a way to time travel and reverse everything. Its just too predictable.Overall, Infinity War was not a very good movie. I do not understand the hype. It was choppy, inconsistent, overcrowded and overall just not the great movie its cracked up to be. I would not recommend going to the theater for this one. I left feeling exhausted and tired of the MCU.',7)"

He not just normal villain to kill bunch of people because he love but his motivation so clear why he wanna do that and most people know he is collecting all the infinity stones. One of the best part of it the team up Guardian & Avengers just amazing, full of humor cannot stop laughing watching their scene together. For 1st time my brain cannot process what going to happen in Avengers 4 really hype about it.Really worth watching it , if u non Marvel fans or superheroes fan this movie is worth to watch , really enjoy it . This is an amazing movie! One of the best openings in the MCU! People keep saying there is no story to this movie in which case they are incredibly stupid as this movie follows the story of the infinity gauntlet comics from the 1990s where Thanos takes all the infinity stones from the Avengers heroes and eliminates half of all life in the universe which is exactly happens in this movie as it is a part 1 of 2 story! This is the defeat and part 2 is the victory thats how this is set up so dont go into this movie expecting anything like character development or a more fleshed out world just expect WAR! A massive fight across worlds where our heroes try to stop Thanos and fail. In my own personal opinion this is a masterpiece for 3 reasons 1. all these characters combining into 1 big massive team is done incredibly well 2. we have seen easily the greatest marvel movie villain ever for the first time in action and finally 3. this is easily the most fun and emotional Experience Ive had with a marvel movie since the first Avengers movie! A solid 10/10 for me and hopefully more people after me!',10)"

Directed by The Russo Brothers Captain America The Winter Soldier and Captain America Civil War, it is truly a terrific film of its kind and a near-perfect culmination of everything the cinematic universe has been building up to for ten years. Two years after the events of Captain America Civil War, the Avengers team remain a fractured group of heroes, with some completely dropping off the radar altogether. However, one day, the powerful intergalactic tyrant Thanos Josh Brolin arrives on Earth to complete his collection of Infinity Stones, which upon acquiring all six, will allow him to control half of the known universe. With time quickly running out, The Avengers must reunite and team up with the Guardians of the Galaxy to put an end to Thanos unquenchable thirst for power.Avengers Infinity War is more than a typical MCU superhero film. It is a celebration of ten wonderful years of entertainment and overall fun. While the film does struggle with some tonal shifts during the first act, its brilliant action scenes and clever dialogue more than make up for these shortcomings. The films ending will be overwhelming to some and most likely will divide fans over how it is executed. Directors Anthony and Joe Russo do a superb job developing Thanos personality outside of simply wanting universal domination. His motivations feel somewhat morally ambiguous and at times even make him seem sympathetic. Despite the films darker tone, there are still some hilarious scenes of banter among the heroes, particularly between Tony Stark Robert Downey Jr and Steven Strange Benedict Cumberbatch. As is the tradition, be sure to stay after the credits for one bonus scene.I rate it a solid 9/10',9)"

The action is nonstop and there is neither any buildup or climax to the action. This could have been redeemed if the actors had any time to do their jobs but they were never given any time to perform and so the characters are rather disconnected from their surroundings and their reactions ridiculous. The only character that is given time to evolve in this movie is Thanos, and he is an interesting figure and I fully approve of how they chose to adapt his motivations instead of following the comic books. But one character is not enough and as usual there is nothing on the line which is hardly surprising since they need to milk every cent they can out of the franchise, and I do not in any way blame them for this. But when the movie ends and not a single character have been killed except for heimdal I really cant bother with their cash grabbing ways any longer. For the people who actually believes that half the characters died i pity your stupidity, because it is painfully obvious that they will be revived in the next movie and everything will continue. The day marvel decide to actually have the heroes sacrifice crap and take responsibility for their actions is the day I will respect marvel. After watching this movie I feel that the correct way to continue is to make an entire movie about what an complete and utter failure Peter Quill is, just like they did with Danny Rand in the defenders.',8)"

## [1] "insert into movies_review (Movie_ID,User_name,Title,Content,rating) values(3,'cruise01','Action packed, big, loud, and a lot of fun.','Rampage 4.5 out of 5 stars.Video game adaptations into films have been ongoing with a curse from missing a specific target audience. Resident Evils are not great films but have been entertaining with its action. The new Tomb Raider reboot was surprisingly good but could have been more. And there are other lacklusters like Prince of Persia, Doom, Silent Hill, ect. A movie about three giant monsters of a crocodile, gorilla, and a grey wolf causing a mass destruction in a city. Yes, that is what the arcade games are about and that is exactly what you can expect in this Rampage film. At least, it is one hell of a wild ride of fun. So dont expect any award winning script with great dialogue, a long developing story, or logic with characters choices in the movie. If you leave all the critical thinking out before watching the film, you will find the film to be what it is. And it does its job, which is entertaining and being a lot of fun. The plot follows after a science experiment gone wrong in space leaving three canisters to fall on Earth. A primatologist Davis Dwayne Johnson notices one of his gorilla friend George is infected with and a lot bigger. After his agitation and escape from the Zoo. The government agent Harvey Jeffrey Dean Morgan captures George and tries to take him into a more secured location. Meanwhile, a corporation that was in charge of the space station experiment of genetic editing led by Claire Malin Akerman and her brother Brett Jake Lacy tries to send a signal to bring in the giant gorilla and the other two infected beasts of a giant grey wolf and a mutated crocodile. The film is a lot of fun. It has a lot of action and big set pieces. It is loud, big, and dumb. But it is definitely a film of escapism of watching three giant beasts destroying a city. While the military are giving everything they got to stop them. And Davis and Dr. Kate Naomie Harris are trying to find a solution to get George back and to have the giant gorilla stop the other two beasts. The visual effects are awesome. There may be some cheesy cgi with the military jets or watching Dwayne Johnson running through falling buildings and avoiding a lot of heavy debris while the monsters are battling it out. Dwayne Johnson is becoming one of the actors you enjoy watching on screen. If you either like his big tough attitude responses or enjoy him facing the impossible with the action sequences. Naomie Harris was okay playing a sidekick character with Davis. Malin Akerman and Jake Lacy play cheesy villains of a cliché corporation on wanting to create deadly experiments for there own personal gain. Jeffrey Dean Morgan was a lot of fun playing a cowboy attitude government agent. Almost feels like he was playing the same character as Negan from The Walking Dead series. Director Brad Peyton created a wild ride with San Andreas film. He does the same with Rampage. It is big and loud and action packed. From an exciting sequence with mercenaries fighting with a giant wolf in the forest to Georges escape on the plane. And the final half hour climax of three monsters causing mass destruction. Also, there is some fun humor. And George and Davis friendship does try to build an emotional connection with the gorilla that tries to have you rooting for the beast. Overall, Rampage is a really good film. It is action packed throughout. The visual effects are awesome. The characters are fun and cheesy. The plot and concept is everything you can expect for a blockbuster fun of monsters causing destructions. I recommend seeing this film on the big screen in theatres. If you are looking for a blockbuster escapism of big action and mass destruction. And seeing Dwayne Johnson battle through this destruction. This would be the film to check out. It is a lot of fun.',10)"

Inspired by a video game Im not familiar with, Rampage is as corny as they come, yet with monsters as gargantuan to the species as Dwayne Johnson is to his, this film somehow works. A science experiment, in the eyes of many, has gone wrong, but in the greedy money grabbing eyes of the people who are in control of the scientists, everything is right on track to make their fortune. Throw the military into the mix and you have a typical Hollywood all action disaster film. Once again Chicago bears the brunt, and its such visual feast of varying shaped buildings, interspersed with bridges, waterways, a raised railway transit system and a huge lake next to it, it must be a movie makers delight to base it as the battlefield of all manner of horror/disaster/saving humanity stories, and I for one love seeing it used as a set for such film genres. They might not like the film personally, but that shouldnt generate a biased low score. Unlike a lot of other horror movies, this one actually had a backstory as to the origins and reasoning for the gameI was surprised with that. I expected it to just be a scary game with no purpose, but I genuinely respect that they added a backstory. Next, this movie is overall just unique and cool. Unlike other cliche horror films where some demon figure is \"haunting\" the house, this film takes a unique approach by having a group of friends end up being the ones that have to do the \"haunting\" and \"killing\"; this concept also played well on friendship and family bonds/truth telling and trusting one another. Lastly, the creepy smiles make for iconic visuals that will stick with you even after you finish watching.',7)"
## [1] "insert into movies_review (Movie_ID,User_name,Title,Content,rating) values(4,'Jared_Andrews','So Terrible that its occassionally Funny and Fun','You know how some movies can be so bad that theyre secretly kind of good? Truth or Dare might be one of those movies. As far as being legitimately good, its not. Its terrible. Its littered with nonsensical reactions, silly dialogue, and unintentionally hilarious moments. Maybe those weird smiles that every character makes at one point are scary to others, but I found them funny every time. The movie is pretty straightforward, but Ill give a brief explanation anyway. A group of friends goes to Mexico on spring break. While there, a stranger invites them to play truth or dare in a creepy abandoned church. It turns out that the game is possessed by a demon who follows them and forces them to continue playing the game until every player is dead. Fail a dare, you die. Tell a lie, you die. Refuse to play, you die. The game and movie are essentially Jumanji crossed with Final Destination. Its PG-13, so its not nearly as graphic as Final Destination, which I didnt mind. It all sounds simple enough. But, the filmmakers still changed the rules throughout the movie and also radically changed what we knew about the characters. Maybe these changes were supposed to indicate that the game reveals our true selves and all the previous information was false. But that doesnt totally work because even characters who know nothing about the game change drastically from one scene to the next. This is the sort of thing that makes the movie clearly bad, but also secretly kind of good because you can laugh at the badness. The other part that partially bothered me and partially made me laugh at its absurdity was how emotionally vacant all the characters were. A friend would die, then they just moved on with a shrug. Specifically, when one guy they know hes kind of a jerk and not exactly a friend dies a gruesome death, one character watches the cell phone video multiple times. A person snaps his neck, and this character just watches the video with an amused look on his face, like hes watching a dog ride a skateboard. Its messed up. While this character is clearly the worst of the group, none of them are likable. If a movie is going to show a group of people die one at a time, it needs to convince us that we should care about them at least a little bit. Since the characters are unlikable and therefore difficult to sympathize with, I felt apathetic about their deaths all except one, which I wont spoil. This is another part of the movie thats so bad that its funny and secretly kind of good.Anyway, Im dissecting this movie too much. The problems with the movie mostly play as funny while watching. If you want to watch and laugh at a bad scary movie with friends, Truth or Dare is fine. Just make sure you go in with low expectations.',2)"

Its so different, very unique, filled with creative ideas, and entertaining throughout. The movie held my attention and it flew by. But the ending is where this movie will be remembered the most. It is without a doubt one of the most CLEVER ENDINGs Ive ever seen. The ending alone is worth going to see this movie. I have a strong feeling that too many people went into this movie with a negative bias, thus the reason for all of the negative reviews. It is also clear that most people clearly missed the entire premise of the ending, otherwise there would be more people on here raving about the brilliant ending to this movie. And even though PG-13 Hollywood horror has created some gems like The Conjuring, for the most part they have disappointed this horror veteran. This film was no different, it just plain old wasnt scary, or thrilling, or suspenseful. To be fair I liked some the kills but other than that I could not find anything redeeming. Its another sad attempt by Hollywood at horror, it just isnt scary. Like many other mainstream horror films, I found myself being bored, waiting for the next scare/kill, only to be disappointed by it. But I suppose if you are a 14 year old girl, like the majority of the theater was, then I suppose it might scare you, but for a man who has been a horror nerd since childhood, this just didnt do it at all for me, I was truly disappointed. The acting was just so generic it ruined many aspects of the film. Not only did I not relate with these characters, I didnt care if they died or not, which can be an essential aspect of such a horror film as this. Also in the tense moments of suspense, their acting wasnt convincing enough to make the scene actually suspenseful. And another thing I just cant stand is that stupid CGI face-morphing that goes on. Not just in this movie, but in all movies, where the face screams but its mouth is CGIed to make it look bigger. Ugh it just sooooooo takes me out of the scare and honestly makes me laugh in embarrassment for whoever thought it looked good. As a horror veteran, these films make me sad, If you are an easily frightened child, go see it, but if you are a horror veteran like myself, this will only disgust you.',3)"

Lucy Hale was probably the Best Actress out of the bunch and I liked her character she was definitely the most likable out of the group regardless of her secret.what she did in the past was wrong but its not like she broke any laws, and the man was more to blame than she was and what he did was Worse. I wont say who he is or what they did because I dont want to spoil it but Lucys character seemed more innocent than guilty in my opinion. overall she was an okay character and I didnt mind her at all.could there be more character development? yes, there could but the lack of character development did not bother me that much because if they wasted time on character development the movie would be too long and then people would moan about that too, plus we wouldnt get much time with the truth or dare possession plot either.I thought the idea of being forced to play truth or Dare or you die was Pretty interesting and unique. Yes I have seen the other two movies with the same title truth or dare but I was not a fan of them and yes people play truth or Dare in those movies too but its done a totally different way in this movie, because if they dont go through with the dare they die and if they dont tell the truth they die and if they refuse to play the game they also die because a supernatural force will kill them. So the only way to survive is, to tell the truth, or do the dare, and the characters can never trick the demon because he knows everything so he will know if they are lying or telling the truth, and if they dont do the dare the demon will know too. Call me crazy but thats a pretty cool concept if you ask me, a supernatural force that forces you to play the game and it doesnt matter where you run to or where you hide you can Never Escape the game, thats pretty creepy. This movie is like the Truth or Dare version of It Follows which is pretty cool since I like that movie. This movie also deals with a supernatural force that you can not run or hide from.I thought Truth or Dare had good writing and good directing and I found the movie surprisingly entertaining.I liked the use of the creepy sound effects and I also liked how the demon could possess any person thats part of the game and force that person to talk and look creepy, or the demon could make people see strange things. I thought the movies concept was actually pretty good and its a concept Ive never seen before done in this way.The movie may not be great but it doesnt deserve to get bashed the way it does either. Overall I Liked the movie okay and I wouldnt mind watching it again one day.',7)"

The whole room was laughing at the \"death scenes\" and strange facial distortions on the characters...When you see what looks like a Snapchat filter on the characters faces, you start wondering if the budget was so low that they didnt have better \"special effects\" to make it more realistic and not so ridiculous. Director Jeff Wadlow is no stranger to the genre. The underrated meta-slasher Cry Wolf was a simple, yet intelligent take on PG-13 horror/thrillers. With Truth Or Dare, and Blumhouse in tow, he attempts to capture similar teenage themes of trust, denial, and the fact that your closet friend could be a liar. What works for this film is its ever evolving sense of menace. The entity really bares down on each characters flaws. Each \"kill\" has relevant motivation and pushes the rating to the max. The facial effects are decent and creepy. What works against the film are the characters. Most of them are disposable. Merely there to add death scenes and nothing more. Additionally, several scenes which couldve added more to certain character arcs simply cut away to move the story along, but leave possible dramatic elements to rot to get to the \"horror.\" The most notable negative is the cast. While not god awful, they did well considering, it was hard accommodating a bulk of the cast. Half of which were total dicks, the remaining cast holds so many secrets from each other that we wonder how they managed to be friends so long. Oh, long enough to fill an hour and a half. The game of Truth or Dare? is no fun when the truth hurts and the dares maim. In fact, thats the biggest problem with Blumhouses Truth or Dare its not fun. Unlike Happy Death Day or The Strangers Prey at Night, theres almost no self-awareness that this is a pretty bad idea for a movie, no joy in an insipid plot with senseless violence. You can dare to speak the truth, and you can truthfully respond to a dare, but maybe fate is real and none of us really have any control over our lives, let alone anyone elses. Demons can be sealed in clay pots, but it often requires outwitting the demon and the demon will never forget anything, not even when black-out drunk in Mexico, or probably especially when black-out drunk in Mexico.Spring Break can be a lot of fun, but it also poses many risks, and you should never trust the cute lonely guy at the bar because hes alone for a reason.',4)"

Interesting plot with interesting build up of character thats showing the douchiness of the friends and a cheater and friends who are dumb enough to cover for that mess. Why I thought this film was crap was when that blonde chick was revealed to have slept with multiple guys. Okay, fair enough shes a slut but the fact that the main character was covering for that and that blonde friend got mad for revealing the truth. The build up of character is all a mess and where their priority lies is just all over the place. The fact that the blonde chick gets mad when she was the one doing all the cheating and the boyfriend Lucas not even getting 1 single bit mad at this fact. Literally the ONLY sad truth or dare part was when that Asian character had to get his dad to beg for his life. The truth or dare that lies between the blonde, the boyfriend and the main character is just stupid. \"Tell the truth that you have feelings for me\" \"I dare you to sleep with me\" \"I dare you to tell your friend that your pedophile friend tried to rape me but I told him to kill himself\". ## [1] "insert into movies_review (Movie_ID,User_name,Title,Content,rating) values(5,'ModishPictures','Cant Escape the Incredible Legacy of the Original','Since I already know you are going to rate this review as \"Not Helpful\" because I didnt rate this 10/10 stars, I figured I might as well start off by telling you how much I love the original Incredibles. The Incredibles 2004 is one of my favorite films of all time and is my second favorite Pixar film right after Finding Nemo. I got to see Incredibles 2 early because I caught a double feature of the two films in IMAX, just in case you were thinking of complaining that I didnt see it since this review is out early. What I loved about the original was the authenticity that the story, characters, and animation had to it. It felt more creative, natural, and beautiful. Syndrome was one of the greatest superhero movie villains of all time, not because of the amount of damage he was able to inflict upon the world, but because of the emotional pain he was able to cause Mr. Incredible and his family. The moments in which Mr. Incredible regrets his past mistakes and realizes how his actions affect others, especially his former biggest fan, are what makes the film stand out from any other hero-villain dynamic. Sadly, Incredibles 2 does not have a villain or story as deep or as thoughtful as Syndrome.Incredibles 2 boldly and intelligently begins right where The Incredibles ended. This smart move on Disney Pixars part eliminates all confusion and time gaps that may arise after a hiatus of any amount especially fourteen years between a sequel and its predecessor. The story that follows is relatively contrived and characters are clumsily introduced in order to expand the universe instead of expanding the emotions of the beloved characters. The action scenes are creative and well-animated, but they arent memorable enough and take place in bland settings and accomplish nothing for the characters. There were many points during this film where I noticed how hard Brad Bird was trying to replicate the formula of the original film, but it became more and more noticeable to the point that it detracted from the story itself. The great Pixar films all have excellent, fluid stories. The great Pixar films also have superb plots that deepen our understanding and feelings for the characters. The good Pixar films have entertaining, sensible plots, but they rarely deepen our love of the characters involved in them, such as A Bugs Life, Cars 2 dont hate me!, Cars 3, and The Good Dinosaur. Incredibles 2, sadly, falls into the latter category that has a fun, creative plot, but a plot that does nothing new for its characters.Since the villain is introduced in the trailer, I dont think that its a spoiler to say that it doesnt feel authentic or inspired enough to be considered one of Pixars best villains. While the motive for the villain is there, it is simply unnecessary, contrived, and unexciting. New heroes are also introduced as seen in the poster and other promotional material. Many of them are underutilized or unnecessary. The films weakest parts involve the newly introduced characters because they all lack the liveliness and creative spark of the original characters that are explored slightly more deeply in this film. But enough of the aspects of the film that let me down. For all of the disappointments, Incredibles 2 also has many surprises and amazing qualities. For one, Jack Jacks new abilities are basically perfect, both in what his powers are and in how they are revealed. At first, I worried that too much of Jack Jacks powers were revealed, but that was hardly the case. Jack Jack is actually one of the best parts of this film. He is easily one of the funniest parts of any Pixar film. I couldnt help but burst out in laughter every time he made a single noise. The humor in this film is slightly more present, or maybe more memorable, than in the original. The films message also tries to be more important and necessary besides highlighting the importance of family.Obviously this review wont stop you from seeing this film, nor was it intended to, but I encourage all of you to see this film in theaters, but heavily reduce your expectations and dont think too much about what made The Incredibles nearly perfect, or you are sure to be sorely disappointed.',7)"

Where this movie loses points is in three separate continuous sequences of intense flashing. My sister is epileptic, and with no warnings we werent prepared for any of it. They added what seems to be some sexually ambiguous folk in there as well, which is also fine. They said Elastigirl is a better superhero than Mr. Incredible, they showed how great of a mother and super hero she is. Then they showed how crap Mr. Incredible is at looking after the house and everything in life to be honest, a complete disaster in fact.At the start they had to make sure Violets boyfriend tells us how he likes powerful women cause hes so secure in his masculinity or whatever. Two siblings run a major company, the brains behind the operation of couse, a woman. The parents of the two siblings died, yes, youve got the hang of it now, because the father was an idiot and didnt listen to his wife. The super intelligent villain, is that same woman. These are just some of the things I remember, but one of the scenes that really bothered me was a really short clip of a TV ad where a guy was baking a cake or something and the narrator said \"so simple even HE can do it\", imagine this scene but with a woman trying to fix a computer and the narrator saying its so simple even SHE can do it, many people would be very upset.I thought the first movie was pretty equal, each member of the family was equally valuable, they all realised they needed each other. While the super intelligent superhero might have been a guy, the super intelligent superhero suit designer Edna is a woman. It all seemed pretty well balanced. Im just shocked the judge at the end wasnt a black woman as well to be honest.Im all up for having women with the more significant roles in a movie but this is just an overload to the point where its blatantly obvious theyre trying to brainwash us through a screen, which reminds me a lot of the villain of the movie, peculiar... The message I took away from this is that were best off just getting rid of men because women are perfect. I guess thats what equality means now a days.',1)"

## [1] "insert into movies_review (Movie_ID,User_name,Title,Content,rating) values(5,'admin-16582','Forced feminism ruined this movie.','This movie is not about family like the first one!Having a strong female lead is great, but emphasizing their superiority over men, over and over, joke after joke, just made this movie unbearable. That is not equality! The first Incredibles movie brought the entire family together as a whole and was solid, one of my all time favorites. Even though the Incredibles 2 started off good and it was funny at first with how Mr Incredible had a hard time with the kids, it never ended. As the movie goes on and on you soon realize whats happening because its not subtle. The boys cant play because their masculinity is too destructive, so Elastigirl has to go solo to restore their image, but shes really just being tricked by an even smarter female who has an idiot for a brother he just happens to be the President of a huge telcom company. Violets character is developed as she matures and is beginning to understand the world as well as her powers. But, Mr Incredible and Dash are just kinda punching bags to make fun of and serve no other purpose. Other than us seeing all the powers Jack Jack has, he really doesnt do anything either other than cause problems. Sure near the end the whole family sort of gets involved, but theyre mostly just taking turns running after Jack Jack. The movie really should have been called \"Elastigirl and Friends\".To sum it up, the story was boring and predictable. They had a certain direction to follow with the feminist agenda and the writers probably did the best they could. But if you think Im crazy, even the films producer Nicole Paradis Grindle confirmed that its feminist premise was years in the making. This movie taught my daughters that family only gets in the way, masculinity is dangerous, men are stupid, and women are victims. Its worth noting that my first review was declined by the IMDb staff using a general \"does not meet guidelines\" reason, which simply means that person doesnt agree with me and chose to censor my review. This is my opinion and view of the movie, and your bias should not be used to censor your opposition to further promote your agenda.',2)"

## [1] "insert into movies_review (Movie_ID,User_name,Title,Content,rating) values(5,'IsabelM11','Dumbed Down to the Max','Ill try to keep spoilers to a minimumI really dont know what to say about this film.As someone who absolutely loved the first one and went into this one desiring to love it as well, I was extremely disappointed and just incredibly confused. I have a number of issues with it, but lets get into the first one.Tone Not every film in a series/sequence needs to maintain consistent tone, I get that. But the first film has always stood out from other animated movies, because of its serious tone and mature themes children and adults can enjoy it. This movie feels like a different franchise entirely. It lacks all the high stakes, emotion, and seriousness of the first film. Consider just a couple moments from the first film the plane crash scene, the scene where Mr. Incredible threatens to kill Mirage, the scene where Buddy gives his \"its bigger, its badder\" monologue, the scene where Mr. Incredible realizes his fellow supers are dead and is then absorbed by black slime, or when Elastigirl considers that Mr. Incredible might be having an affair when she finds a white hair. Any one of these scenes is more complex, emotional, and interesting than the entire Incredibles 2 film. The second movie lacks any sense of stakes or seriousness. It felt like the most dumbed down version imaginable. The first film was so smart in its approach and dialogue, and the characters felt realistic and intelligent the fight between Elastigirl and Bob when he comes home late. This film has lost all of that completely. For example, the scene where Elastigirl is talking to the sister and says \"are you asking the believer or the cynic?\" was possibly the most cringe-worthy, out of place dialogue Ive ever heard. Like they were trying to intellectualize a moment so hard it just felt forced. Even the color scheme of this movie felt jarringly different and so saturated, like the colors were turned up to the max. The first film had a color story that made sense its grey and depressing when Bob is working, explosion of color once you get to Nomanasan. Theres a development of color that is both metaphoric and makes sense. This films color story felt childish, which would be fine if it was just a childrens movie. But its apart of a franchise thats first film was an iconic masterpiece with mature yet fun themes, and in that respect it is seriously disappointing and difficult to watch.Plot Most predictable plot ever made. As soon as you see it, you know the siblings sister will turn out to be bad, and that shes controlling screen slaver. And of course Elastigirl finally gets her turn to save the world and Mr. Incredible + family will have to go save her a reversal of the first movie that at first seems creative then becomes almost too predictable. And I have major issues with the villain. They are literally fighting people who can be calmed down if they just remove goggles. Characters What happened with the characters? They were all dumbed down versions of themselves. Even that scene with Dash where he cant pronounce decimals, which was supposed to be family friendly and cute, was just irritating and felt dumb for his character. Elastigirl was over the top to the point where she didnt feel like herself. Bob was the... same? I guess, but had zero development. Violet, who I get is going through her angsty teen thing, is okay. Even the minor characters, Edna aside who was fine, like the guy who helps them relocate each year was off. In the first film I appreciated his seriousness and matter of fact style, which appeared cold but you could tell he actually cared. Even he felt crazy different. It actually hurts me to continue critiquing this film, so Ill stop there despite the many other issues I had with it.',1)"

## [1] "insert into movies_review (Movie_ID,User_name,Title,Content,rating) values(5,'dezriknightangel','Entertaining Until You Think About It','At first viewing the Incredibles 2 was on par no pun intended with most Marvel sequels Not deep, but visually stunning and entertaining throughout most of the film. That said...First of all, the story is weak and forgettable. The family for which the movie gets its name is hardly relevant, with Dash and Violet having no impact on the plot and Dash failing to receive even an attempt at a subplot. Mr. Incredible fails in everything he attempts in both heroic and domestic pursuits, and Elastigirl saves a few lives before falling for an obvious trap and being controlled by the villain. As the story comes to its climax, all of the heroes including Frozone and both parents have been enslaved by the villain and its up to Violet, Dash, and Jack-Jack to save the day. Rather than showing how young people can be just as heroic as adults, a car gets to be the hero, with their sole contribution being accidental. The film then concludes with complete victory for the heroes and an utter lack of character development. Such plots as the Underminer, the technology to erase memories, the damage lawsuits, and the villains unused ability to enslave the entire human race were ignored and forgotten. This movie was little more than an excuse for Disney to push its increasingly heavy-handed political agenda into the minds of young people. Every scene is filled with cowardly men, evil entrepreneurs, and flat jokes. The movie explicitly states that it is villainous to unplug from technology and live your life and that vicarious living through screens is ideal and that protests and law breaking is the only way to change public policy. This is not intended or writtwn ironically. This is the films actual moral message.Ill end with this If you enjoy the most recent Star Wars movies where beloved characters are rendered irrelevant and progressive politics are the driving force of the story you might not mind this movie. Yet in the theater with me were a lot of children who werent laughing and a lot of parents slowly realizing that Disney is no longer family entertainment.Disney is a propaganda mill ranting against the capitalist middle-class society that supports it, and I urge you to stop supporting the films they release until their focus returns to quality filmmaking.',2)"

## [1] "insert into movies_review (Movie_ID,User_name,Title,Content,rating) values(5,'corpse_man','Another movie ruined by radical feminism.','First of all, this movie is nothing but a giant piece of propaganda. I was a huge fan of the original Incredibles, and its quite sad to see this new film reduced to nothing more than a means to push radical neo feminist ideologies. To summarize the plot, its basically about how Elastigirl is a more competent superhero than Mr Incredible, and so she gets chosen to be the face of the new superhero resurgence, while Mr incredible stays at home and looks after the kids. Not surprisingly, the movie emphasizes how poorly Mr incredible is at handling his new duties at home. The main message of this movie is that Elastigirl is just as good or better than Mr Incredible at superhero work, while Mr Incredible is vastly inferior at taking care of the kids and home life in general. So basically, he is just all around inferior to her. Or lets just say it out loud, Men are inferior to women. That is the real message of the film. Ironically, it was actually released right before FATHERS DAY!!!Now if so many other movies were not packed with the same sort of blatant propaganda recently, I could probably just right it off as part of the plot, or just originality or whatever, but since almost every big budget movie recently is so full of similar plot lines, its quite clear what it really is. PROPAGANDA.In the original Incredibles movie, Elastigirl and Mr Incredible were equals. They both had strengths and weaknesses, and in the end she ended up saving him. I loved that movie. It was about a loving family and about equal partnership. This new movie however, Mr Incredible and Elastigirl are not even close to being equals. he is completely incompetent and demasculinized, while she is vastly superior at pretty much everything. AS I stated previously, this fits in with the modern trend of movies, which seems to not only put Women in postions of power which is great but also seems to greatly emphasize their superiority over men. This needs to stop. Especially on a movie released just before fathers day. Like seriously?WE are basically telling our children they dont need fathers and dont need to listen to their fathers or respect them, because they are just completely incompetent, second rate people. I would NOT let my children watch this movie!',2)"

It has a good amount of action and a few chuckles. I noticed an improvement in the art which was already stellar in the first film. the problem is that its a sequel to...THE BEST FILM EVER MADE! How does one wait fourteen years and come up with this?My biggest fear about having a sequel is that theyd messed with the original and/or get political. They did both. As far as messing with the original, Tony will never have the memory of getting the courage to ask Violet out at the track meet, the epic finale of the first film where Bob and Helen see Jackjacks superpowers while being taken away by Syndrome was written out like it never happened, and we knew in the first film that the Pars were going to mop the floor with the Underminor. That was the punchline of the whole film. Also the family as one moral of the first film went out the window.Spoilers.In the new film, the Underminor gets away and never gets whats coming to him.I like the idea of having the villain being a woman this time, but Evelyn filling that role just seemed forced. I have a hard time buying it.We see Bob jealous and hurt by not being included in Winstons plans but he never gets to redeem himself his big deed is pushing a rudder?. In the first film he was super in every way possible remember how he calculated the velocity of the jumper and when he outsmarted the robots? In this film, they paint him as sloppy which is unfair. Helen never had to deal with Jackjacks powers like Bob did. There is no closure to the outdated/overused Mr Mom thing. No redemption. We saw JackJack turn into metal in the original but it never touched on this. The little devil monster and the multiply trick was used over and over. Would have liked to have seen more of his mimicry skills. Heck, if this movie was all Edna and Jackjack, it would have been a big improvement! All the new supers they brought in just cluttered up the plot not that there was much of one. We know nothing about them except that they are dumb. It also lacks that wonderful mid-century charm of the original. It is way too urban and the house and boat are just sterile. Dang, I would have LOVED it if they at least could have included the original incredible house being rebuilt at the end of the film. It would have signaled that the charm of the original might eventually come back in about fifteen more years after a dozen more penguin films ; I actually posted to the old IMDB message board two years ago that I was afraid of the idea of a sequel. I was right. And the feminist political theme didnt help if you doubt me, notice that almost all the males have strange, fruit shaped heads.Sorry, I dont mean to be such a pessimist. Its not a TERRIBLE film. But as a followup to the greatest film ever made? Ill go with my original assessment from two years ago and watch The Incredibles with a smile. ## [1] "insert into movies_review (Movie_ID,User_name,Title,Content,rating) values(5,'trw-98462','A Simply Super Movie','Having grown up in the 2000s and being an advid fan of animation and superheroes, Id be lying if I told you that I wasnt entranced by Disney Pixars Incredibles from 2004. Fast forward fourteen years and I found myself sitting in a movie theatre with a bunch of other twenty year olds excitedly waiting to watch its sequel. But was Incredibles 2 able to reach the high bar set by its predecessor?Id personally say yes. This movie was an incredible success!I just love how Incredibles is able to expertly mix superhero action with the struggles faced by your average family. When theyre not fighting crime, the members of the Parr family find themselves dealing with basic human predicaments, like trying to raise a baby and figuring out how to do math homework. These two genres may not seem compatible on paper, but Incredibles is just able to make it work. This results in Incredibles being a truly unique feature.Of course originality alone isnt enough to make a film great, especially if the writers are unable to compose a comprehensible story for their film. Thankfully, the plot of Incredibles 2 was able to exceed the basic fundamental requirements of storytelling, especially for a superhero film. Yes, the plot is somewhat predictable and it is honestly quite simplistic at its core. Nonetheless, the story is executed quite well, and there are relatively no plot holes present in the movie. Although the story is fine, what I found to be a major highlight of the film would definitely be the characters, specifically the protagonists. Each of the main characters added their own little flair to the movie. Helen takes the spotlight for a decent portion of the film, and viewers got to see her awesome crime fighting abilities as Elastigirl. Violet was pretty amazing in this movie. She went through development as a person, as a superhero, and had some pretty hilarious moments like when she squirted water out of her nose. Dash also showed some character growth in the film and he ended up being an enjoyable presence. When it comes to Bob, I do wish that the creators would have showed off his prowess as Mr. Incredible a bit more in the film. But since he got some enjoyable scenes as a stressed dad trying to take care of his children and was the primary focus of the first movie, it didnt bother me too much. The biggest surprise for me ended up being how great I found the Jack-Jack scenes to be. I couldnt believe how entertained I was by the antics of a baby in a movie, and he actually wound up being one of the most memorable parts of the film for me. Returning characters like Frozone and Edna maintained their charm from the previous movie, and some of the new characters ended up being pretty decent as well.I simply cant finish this review without talking about the breathtaking aesthetics of the film. The animators really outdid themselves with the movies technical aspects. Expressions, movements, and scenery were impressively well animated, and the visuals have set a new standard for animated movies. Of course, this is to be expected. The creators did have a solid fourteen years to make this film as spectacular as possible you know.Overall, I was genuinely satisfied with Incredibles 2. It maintained the quality of the first film and even surpassed it in some aspects. Pixar did a lot of things right with this movie. And if youre unsure of whether or not to watch it because \"its for kids,\" I would wholeheartedly recommend giving this movie a shot. I doubt that youll be dissapointed by it. It is a pretty incredible movie after all.',8)"

First the good stuff Lady Gaga was perfect for and in this role - acting singing, chemistry, song writing - all fantastic. The chemistry between Bradley Cooper and Gaga was believable and, at times, breathtaking. The first two thirds of the movie had a great arch and captured us as a friend, who watched the movie with me, said, \"I could watch the first part of this movie on repeat.\" I am also a big fan of about 5 of the songs, and would add them to my library without hesitation, they are beautifully written. Now, the not so good stuff the last third of the movie was too long - it could easily be cut by 20 minutes, but Bradley Cooper, as director, was more than a little self indulgent with his own scenes we got the struggle, drawing it out didnt serve the storytelling. Allys character arch was disappointing. As her star rose she didnt learn to love what Jack saw in her. She didnt learn to take ownership of her own story, the very gift Jack was trying to give her. Allys story wasnt resolved until the very last moments of the movie, it was eclipsed by Bradleys directorial obsession with Jacks decline, belying the original premise of all the STAR IS BORN movies and lessening her triumph. I guess what moved it from great to good, for me, was that the first two thirds proved it could be great but the last third got hijacked no pun intended. I give this film a 7 good out of 10. {Music-centric Romantic Drama}',7)"

For her first film, Lady Gaga did very well but I cant say she blew my mind...but hey its her first film and I like her, so good for her. That being said, the film seems to be getting WAY overblown by people. The first act is really great and the chemistry between Gaga and Cooper is phenomenal but after that it sort of devolves into a melodrama. The character development of Coopers character is lacking. He is an alcoholic and we certainly see him drunk many times but I didnt see enough struggle to justify his character arc not was Coopers performance powerful enough to convey the devastating agony of addiction. The film then goes through a few cliches as we see Gagas character ascend to fame but again, we also dont see enough struggle from her character either. In all, the character conflicts are addressed but the film never fully dives into them in the way it certainly could have. I loved the first song of the film but the rest of the music was surprisingly bland and didnt captivate me at all. Lady Gaga obviously has an incredible voice and Cooper held his own surprisingly. Janet Gaynor had brought a form of overwhelming innocence, Judy Garland exploded in heartbreak in a Hollywood that doesnt exist anymore and she was, unquestionably, memorable. Barbara Streisand was tough with a strong sense of self even during her tribulations. Lady Gaga brings a little of each of them as well as something profoundly personal. Kudos to Bradley Cooper. ## [1] "insert into movies_review (Movie_ID,User_name,Title,Content,rating) values(6,'michaeljohnson-27597','A Star is Born Shines TIFF 2018','If youre even a casual moviegoer, chances are you have already heard the argument; that originality is dead in Hollywood. We live in an era where even Ghostbusters is no longer sacred. Where you wouldnt be surprised if one of the large studios announced a remake of the Godfather or Citizen Kane. Those remakes might capture some audience members, but those films almost certainly dont capture the audiences hearts. They certainly dont capture the praise critics. They certainly dont take home any major awards. That all changes with A Star is Born.Change, however, is a key word when it comes to remakes. Or remakes of remakes of remakes... In order to make the venture worthwhile, the film makers not only have to stay close to the ideas of original film, but they have to have a reason to retell the story. Its a delicate balance. Every version of a Star is Born follows a broken celebrity, in the Winter of his career, damaged by years of drinking who is suddenly reborn when meeting a young ingénue. The two fall in love, but while their relationship develops, their entertainment careers go in different directions.Director and Co-Star Bradley Coopers film seemingly borrows more from the Streisand/Kristofferson iteration of A Star is Born the last time this story was retold, as the dynamic between the two lovers hinges on the music industry. When Streisand and Kristofferson remade the film, for the fourth time at that point in 1976, they broke one of the aforementioned expectations, as they both took home Golden Globes for their performances. Perhaps Cooper was more inspired by performance, rather than aesthetic, as the acting is one aspect out of many that shines in Coopers version. The characters of Jackson Maine Cooper and Ally Lady Gaga drive the entire story in what is essentially a film with only half a dozen notable characters. Cooper and Lady Gaga have amazing chemistry, and from the moment you see the two on screen together for the first time you feel the connection.First time director, Cooper, deftly creates intimacy between Jackson and Ally, without which the story would certainly not be as successful. In stadiums housing thousands of fans, in small dressing rooms packed with screaming Drag Queens, in a loud dive bar, in the parking lot of an all-night-grocer, Cooper uses tight framing and sound impeccably to make it seem like theyre the only two people in the world. You understand his charm, you see her vulnerability, and the two actors give side-by-side stellar performances. That isnt to take away anything from a small, but powerful supporting cast. There were some brilliant and surprising moments from Dave Chappelle as Noodles, an old friend of Jacksons who reiterates how much Ally has revitalized Jackson. The largest surprise came from Andrew Dice Clay as Lorenzo, Allys father. Both Clay and Chappelle brought great moments of love and humanity in their criminally small interactions with the two main characters. Sam Elliot also surprised me in his role as Bobby, Jacksons much older brother. They explain the age discrepancy, but the rest is self-explanatory as he and Cooper truly are brothers on screen, with all the frustration, fights and familiarity that goes with that relationship. Elliot in his similarly small time on screen, often showed the softer side of his craft, hiding touching instants of sadness when it comes to his difficult relationship with his brother, concealed only slightly by his iconic mustache. It begs the question, does Cooper deserve all the praise as director, or does the cast? What I can glean from the film is Cooper definitely had his cast on the same page, as regardless of screen time, these actors made you care about their characters. The audience is invested. There are countless pivotal story beats where these characters may do something frustrating or angering. Instead of merely recognizing that these are hurdles to push the story further, I found myself almost vocally upset, akin to yelling at a character in a horror film to not go in the room where the killer is hiding. This film makes you want the protagonists to succeed, even when dealing with topical subplots regarding celebrity, regret, depression and substance abuse. And thats because youre along for the ride the entire time. Youre a part of this love story. The film sucks you in from the beginning with the roar of a raucous concert audience, the hard beat of the drums on Jacksons stage, and his hypnotic swagger as he plays for thousands. If you were one of the millions of people who have seen the trailer for this film, Im sure you know exactly what Im talking about kudos to the promotional department of this film, as that, is an extremely engaging and powerful trailer but it stems from an extremely engaging and powerful film. The music, much like it did with the trailer gets inside you, not just inside your head where you find yourself humming a gentle country lilt sang by Cooper, it gets inside your heart and soul and rattles around. It repeats over and over until youre the one who doesnt want to let go. While Cooper should be commended for taking his craft seriously and improving his singing, this is where Lady Gaga shines, to no ones surprise.Ally is a perfect role for her. The performer has spoken about how vulnerable and ugly she felt in some scenes when shooting this film, but it made her so real on screen. Allys career, much like the first half of the film, blasts off, and all you can do is hold on until you realize the songstress is belting a powerful ballad. You wonder, much like her character \"how did we get here\" but at that point, youre just happy to be along for the ride. It is a testament to Lady Gagas ability, because being such an iconic figure, if it werent for her conveyance of sincerity and humility, the characters journey would seem forced and unfulfilling. Because of Gagas performance, however, you relish the moment Ally can finally embrace who she is and bravely belt out her songs with no inhibition. In a film with so many moments that grab you, the music is undeniably one of my favorite aspects. I cant wait for this film to get a wider release so the studio can also make the soundtrack available. If and when Award season comes, and A Star is Born is undeniably a forerunner for several major awards, I think Cooper should be commended simply because as director, he brought everything together. The songwriters, the actors, the cinematography, the sound design was superbly balanced to create the best possible version of this story making it, the brightest star for both critics and audiences.',9)"

In case some people dont realize it, this film has been over cooked since the 1930s. Maybe women love Bradley Cooper so this is his vanity project in which he is credited as the writer, director, and star. Heck, Bradley Cooper even went as far as having a Sam Elliott voice over by copying Elliotts gravelly voice and Mr. Vanity Cooper even gives himself several minutes of solo face time singing as a past-his-prime-time weary weathered alcoholic singing star.Oh sure, Cooper pulled out as many pity points that he possibly could by including his loyal dog pining for our over the hill rock star. While Jack hides behind his closed garage door his dog rests in front of the door resting alone and waiting for his master Jack to come out from behind the closed garage door. Awwwwww shucks. Coopers screenplay denotes \"sappy sucker tears called for here\".I wish Hollywood would welcome some fresh new screenwriters blood with some really creative ideas for screenplays rather than just use bonafide stars to re-write old screenplays and re-hash old movies and expect us avid filmgoers who enjoy going to actual movie theaters to suck the old crap up again and again.I bet that more than half the people who wrote a praiseworthy IMDB review in 2018 for this film wont even remember who starred in this 5th version of A Star Is Born because it is simply not a memorable film, nor is it worthy of the bloated high praise it has been garnering. In reference to the great P.T. Barnum \"Theres a Sucker Born Every Minute\"...dont be the next one. Pass on this overrated remake.',4)"

## [1] "insert into movies_review (Movie_ID,User_name,Title,Content,rating) values(6,'themadmovieman','Starts in exhilarating fashion, although loses steam','Its a story as old as time, and thats evident in the fact that Bradley Coopers A Star Is Born is the fourth yes, FOURTH remake of the movie classic. However, with clearly passionate directing and acting throughout, furthered by wonderful music and an efficient portrayal of the classic rags-to-riches story, this proves a thoroughly entertaining and memorable watch that absolutely flies by over the course of nearly two and a half hours. But before we get into all that, I have to start with the films opening half hour, which is exceptional. Despite its long running time, theres so much packed into the opening act, and its delivered with jaw-dropping passion and energy, to the point where I felt absolutely exhilarated by the film within such a short period of time. The passion with which Bradley Cooper is directing the movie is clear from the opening scene, and as we see our superstar musician form an unlikely and unexpected bond with a young local singer, the film begins to tell that age-old story about finding fame in beautiful and riveting fashion. In fact, in the knowledge that its a story that you know like the back of your hand, Cooper ingeniously ramps the dial up to eleven as we watch our young up-and-coming star caught up in an exhilarating whirlwind as she is suddenly transported from a small waitressing job to singing in front of thousands, culminating in a stunningly moving musical sequence that feels like a true epiphany, as you watch this young woman overwhelmed as she gets her first taste of stardom, something that I was absolutely blown away by.That opening half hour is truly exceptional. Full of emotion, drama and moving at a pace that mirrors the dramatic transformation from ordinary singer to superstar, its exhilarating to watch at every moment, and easily the best opening act Ive seen from a film this year, setting up the rest of the film fantastically.Rather unfortunately, however, things dont quite pan out in the same stunning fashion through the rest of the movie. While the remained of A Star Is Born is still good, I was left feeling a little disappointed that it couldnt keep up that same exhilarating energy and emotion from the first act, as things quieten down and become a little more predictable.Of course, theres nobody who doesnt know this story, so being predictable isnt as much of a problem, but what I found frustrating about the film was how it failed to keep delving deeper into the lives of the lead characters as their careers start flying in completely opposing directions. As a director, Cooper did an incredible job with the opening half hour, and his passion for the subject matter remains strong throughout, but the problem comes in the way that he portrays the main points of this age-old story in a rather plain fashion, moving a little too readily onto each new stage in the two singers careers without leaving enough time for things to settle. In that, the film has a good pace to it that makes it a thoroughly entertaining watch right to the end, but with the exception of the opening act and the finale, there just isnt enough depth to the individuals here, leaving me a little detached from their emotions throughout the middle portion, and having to rely on my knowledge of the classic rags-to-riches story to understand more about what they were feeling. So, a little bit more clarity and patience would have gone a long way here, and I would have been genuinely happy to watch another half hour or so of the film. While the second two-thirds of the movie arent so profoundly moving, that doesnt mean theres nothing to praise, because along with Coopers passionate directing, we see two fantastic performances from the director himself as well as Lady Gaga.Starting off with Bradley Cooper, his portrayal of an aging and fading star is thoroughly fascinating to watch. While he doesnt appear as the storys main focus, the quality of his performance is such that I was at times even more invested in his character than the rise of the starlet, as he pulls off the maturity and likability of his battle-hardened character while still putting in a powerful portrayal of his deeper weaknesses, something that makes him both delightfully appealing and still deeply interesting to follow throughout.Alongside Cooper is Gaga, who is a real revelation here. Given that shes never been in a role of this magnitude before, her acting ability is truly stunning, and she gives a performance thats just as profound and striking as any experienced A-list actress. Taking from her own experience of life in the music business and her rise to stardom in real life, the passion that she feels for her character is clear in every scene, with that previously mentioned epiphany-inducing musical number Shallow featuring the best example of her incredible acting. She holds fantastic chemistry with Cooper, and the two make their characters relationship both convincing and genuinely appealing, even through the inevitable ups and downs of the story, keeping your interest strong as the film moves through the story towards the finish. In the end, I was very impressed with A Star Is Born. Its unfortunately not pitch-perfect all the way through, but after a mind-blowing opening act, and featuring passionate and likable directing and performances throughout, it proves a massively entertaining watch regardless, with some excellent music to boot.',7)"

On many levels the chemistry just wasnt there, Bradleys convincing method style was fully realised as a train wreck of a man but lacked any real character development, Lady Gagas acting was very on the surface and at some points you could practically see her counting her emotional responses on line and on cue.The emotional responses seemed to be confined between pathetic and hysterical that jarred with Bradleys more nuanced emotional palette. Clearly Gaga devotees will see no fault. The pacing of the movie was laborious at times with any tension evaporating entirely. Two aspects of the movie were worthy of note, firstly the realistic concerts and the documentary nature of the camera work, and lastly, on the whole, the music, it was great fun but not memorable as it was set within an unconvincing movie.',4)"

In all of these films the story has been the same an alcoholic and over-the-hill actor or with Kris Kristofferson, rock star finds a young talented ingenue to love and develop into a superstar. The modern day remake is a little different in that Jackson Maine, our older star now played by Bradley Cooper, is a stadium-filling mega-rock-star, recognised and idolised in every bar he goes into.... and he frequents a LOT of bars. Maine mixes the cocktail with drugs in this version meaning that as one star is ascending, his seems destined to be heading into a black hole.At its heart, this is a good story of having self-confidence in your own abilities, no matter how people around you try to put you down. Gagas Ally is one such person; a waitress who is constantly being told, especially by her blue-collar dad and his boozy friends, that although she has a great voice shes \"never going to make it\" because of the way she looks. In chilled fashion she meets Jackson Maine, who hears her sing and thinks she might be on the edge of glory. Not worried about her big nose, he appreciates she was born that way in fact he likes her so much he wants to poke her face. Sorry... couldnt resist it.I appreciate from the IMDB rating that I am probably in a minority here. At the time of writing this is imho a ridiculously high 8.3. But for me, I found the whole thing a dull affair. I cant remember the last time I went to a film when I actively looked at my watch... but 1 hour 45 into this, I did it had another 30 minutes to run.For one thing, I just didnt believe Bradley Cooper as the rock star character. He just came across as totally false and unbelievable to me. I had more resonance with Gagas Ally. Even though she is a novice actor and it showed at times in general I thought she did a creditable job. But given these two factors together, there are long and indulgent exchanges between the pair that seemed to me to go on in-ter-min-ably. Best actor in the film for me was Sam Elliott as Jacksons brother Bobby. The mellowing of the brothers is a scene that I found genuinely touching.Id also like a glance at the original script, since there are some passages the \"boyfriend/husband\" lines is a case in point where it felt like one of them made an script mistake and, instead of Cooper as director shouting \"cut\", they kept it going as some sort of half-arsed improv. What is impressive is that they got to film at live concerts including at Glastonbury, although most of this footage is of the hand-held nausea-inducing variety. There is zero doubt that Gaga can belt out a song better than anyone. But I didnt get that same feeling about Bradley Coopers singing like a lot of this film with Cooper as co-producer, co-screenwriter AND director it felt to me like a self-indulgent piece of casting.I know music is extremely subjective, and \"country\" isnt really my think anyway. But the songs by Gaga and Lukas Nelson were - \"Shallow\" aside - for me rather forgetable.Overall, in a couple of years that have brought us some great musicals - \"La La Land\"; \"Sing Street\"; \"The Greatest Showman\" - heres a film about the music industry that did nothing for me Im afraid.',4)"
