R as an open analytic platform
Open source software (OSS) is usually developed as a public collaboration and made freely available. Usually official versions of these software are available on the internet free of cost.
R is such an open source programming language. It is primarily used for developing statistical software and data analysis. R was established as an open source project by Ross Ihaka and Robert Gentleman at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, in 1995.
The software is free to download and available for Windows, Macintosh, and Linux - meaning that anyone can easily install, use and share the software. RStudio is an open source integrated development environment for R. Its interface enables the users to view graphs, tables, code, and output all at the same time.
