ANALYSIS
This analysis hopes to identify if there are any significant differences between the sexes- male and female in their adolescent lives. Specifically, this analysis will explore how respondents differ in their feelings, actions and thoughts toward suicide, sexual intercourse and drug & alcohol abuse.
Note: Wherever the word ‘Biosex’ shows up in the questions, it refers to the both categories- male and female that belong to variable sex.
QUESTIONS
Suicide by Sex (Category 1) To see how suicide varies by sex, we shall answer 4 questions:
- How do males and females (Biosex) differ in their attempt of suicide (qn26)?
- How frequently is suicide attempted (qn28) between males and females (Biosex)?
- Is there a substantial risk in injury from suicide attempts (qn29) between males and females (Biosex)?
Sexual intercourse by Sex (Category 2) To see how sexual intercourse varies by sex, we shall answer 3 questions:
- How does the average age of first sexual encounter (qn60) differ between males and females (Biosex)?
- How does amount of sexual partners (qn61) differ between males and females (Biosex)?
- How does birth control method (qn65) differ between males and females (Biosex)?
Alcohol use by Sex (Category 3) To see how alcohol use varies by sex, we shall answer 3 questions:
- How does the actual days of alcohol consumption (qn40) differ between males and females (Biosex)?
- How does the average age of first time alcohol consumption (qn41) differ between males and females (Biosex)?
- Are male or female adolescents (Biosex) more likely to use marijuana (qn46)?
