The Federal Reserve Economic Data (FRED) is a database maintained by the research division of Federal Reserve Bank that has more than 500,000 economic time series. They cover banking,business,fiscal,consumer price index,employment,trade,interest rate,monetary aggregates and financial data. The Real potential Gross Domestic profit is measured quarterly by the FRED, and it rapresents the CBO’s estimate of the output the economy would produce with a high rate of use of its capital and labor resources. The CBO provides budgetary and economic information in a variety of ways and at various point in the legislative process with analysis of budget,cost estimates, economic projections… The data analyzed is adjusted to remove the effects of inflation, while the Unit is in Billions of Chained 2009 Dollars not seasonally adjusted. The graph shows on the x-axis Date, wheras on the vertical axis the Value and It can be clearly seen that during the whole period there is a positive trend of GDP. What it is interesting to analyze is the particular period from 2000 to 2020, where the economy was afflicted by two crises/bubble(dotcom and subprime). Nevertheless, during these time, we observe a strong growth, without recession in productivity. Indeed, in less than 20 years, the Real Potential Gross Domestic Product doubled, from 10000 to more that 20000. Moreover, we can see this development also by the slope of line, from late ’80s it becomes steeper underline the strong and continous expansion. The same statement could be made for the future, forecasting show how the incresing will continue in years. To summarise, it easy to understand the trend of the chart; on the other hand,what it is not easy is determine when this trend will end, an infinite growth it is not possible. So, for how many years this great expansion could still be soustainable for the economy?
