## [1] "Number of TOEFL results recorded: 17"

TOEFL Results by Skill Area

The highest average result is Reading (20), lowest average Listening (15).

Results of eight Mainstream students were unreported in October, a fact that would likely bring the average down even further.

TOEFL Results by Grade

This barchart indicated that Senior 3 students outperformed Senior 2 students by only half a point in speaking.

Both Listening and Reading showed a 4-point gain from Grade 11 to 12.

Mean Results by Verbal Skill Area

## sat.R.score sat.G.score
## 237.5 267.5

There were only 2 cases of SAT Reading scores better than Grammar (i.e. Language & Writing).

## [1] "Percentage of students over 50th percentile on SAT Verbal: 35%"
## [1] "Percentage of students over 50th percentile on SAT Math: 100%"
## [1] "Percentage of students over 50th percentile on SAT Composite: 90%"

Ninety percent of our students were over the 50th percentile on the SAT, due to 100% scoring relatively high on the Math Section.

Only 35% of our students achieved the global mean on the Verbal Section.

## [1] "Percentage of students over 25th percentile on SAT Verbal: 75%"
## [1] "Percentage of students over 33th percentile on SAT Verbal: 65%"
## [1] "Percentage of students over 66th percentile on SAT Verbal: 10%"
## [1] "Percentage of students over 75th percentile on SAT Verbal: 5%"

These results reflect a lack of students with above average and outstanding achievement on the Verbal Section.

Conclusions

  • TOEFL Listening remains the largest barrier to adequate overall performance
  • TOEFL Speaking shows neglible year-on-year improvement
  • SAT Reading markedly underperforms SAT Grammar
  • Above average SAT Verbal results are an anomaly.
