The key goals of tripadvisor user’s are to find out the best place to flights, cruises, visiting different places or eat at a best place.
It started as a small company in 2000.
Depending upon the the previous users previous history records we can suggest them others places they might like to visit or eat or so on.
If the users are new then we can recommend them the best place within the 10 miles range of where they are searching to go to.
The only drawback about these search engines and recommenders are that they are paid for it. So, whoever pays more advertising amount you will see their name first when you google them.
I used to be a supervisor in a restaurant in Manhattan upper westside. We used to have issue that the guest couldn’t search on because we don’t come on their first 3 pages of search. I called grubhub and seamless about this issue. They said if we will upgrade our monthly subscription they can bring the restaurants website on the first page.
So, that’s how it works.
Suspicious thing about tripadvisor is most of the reviews are 4 stars and higher which is surprising.
No matter what, I would recommend tripadvisor as one of the good search engine to find out about restaurants, places to visit, take cruises and fligts because it is the only site currently which focuses on so many categories. And the reviews which are counted a bubbles are very geniune not like yelp where any people can write anything they want because they had the bad time at that particular place. But sometimes the question arise is “Are those places bad?” because they are rated less stars or “Is the person who wrote a bad review about a place had more exception from that place?”
When expection doesn’t meet reality then people write bad reviews about places and restaurants.
