Chapter 5

Distribution and Densities

If a coin is tossed a sequence of times, what is the probability that the first head will occur after the fifth toss, given that it has not occurred in the first two tosses.

Based off the question, I chose to omit the probabilities of Flip1 and Flip2 since they don’t have any bearing on the final result. I chose to utilize Flips 3 through Flip 6 since the question stated after the fifth flip.

This means that Flip 3 through Flip 5 doesn’t occur and a head would be achieved at Flip 6. Meaning 4 choose 1.

H <- choose(4,1)
H
## [1] 4
factorial(4) / factorial(4-1)
## [1] 4
4/16 * 100
## [1] 25

Based off my calculation, the probability to achieve a Heads after the fifth roll is 25%.
