New league trading system
So I have given a lot of thought to the trading system we have in our league. There are two conflicting issues.
- On one side, teams that can no longer compete have no disincentives to prevent them from creating trades that are unbalanced.
- A perfect example of this is the ODB for Hines trade. The fact that a trade of Ridley + Hines was later offered and accepted, shows that the original trade is far below the actual market value that even the same two teams would have exchanged given complete information
- On the other side, keeping players that have no keeper value, is useless for teams that can not compete.
As this is a keeper league, we want to find some balance to incentivize trades to reach their true market value. It is for that reason that I will now enforce a mandatory 48 hour bidding process for teams that would like to trade any player currently ranked in the top 75 ADP. I would ask that all teams realize this means that Saturday trades will not be processed by Sunday game time. Therefore if a trade is made on a Saturday, the window will not open up until the following Tuesday and teams will have until wed night to submit their offers. For trades accepted on a Friday, a special case will be made wherein the trade window for offers will be Friday and Saturday. Trades made on Friday will be reflected in the current lineup. If you attempt to trade a player who has already played during any of these windows, you will not receive points for their production.
The process will be as follows:
Once a trade is accepted for any player meeting the above requirement, I will make a public post where all other teams can give their offers.
No team is obliged to make an offer
However, any offers made in the thread are binding. An exception will be made only if any player involved in the trade, is somehow designated to IR during the window. You may not withdraw the offer for any other reason.
- Offers can be made for individual players that were involved in the original trade
- However, sellers will have a large amount of discretion in deciding which offers they take. People can bitch as much as they want about how great their offer was, but in the end much of this is at the discretion of the seller
- If within that 48 hour window offers are made to either trading team, that the commissioner deems comparable to the original offer, then the commissioner may require the original trading team to explain their preference for the original trade rather than the new offer.
- If the seller chooses to sell only a single player when multiple players were involved in original trade, the original trade will be cancelled.
- The player will then have to work out another trade with a new team, accept that offer, and another bidding process will begin Recently
- Any bids made on multiple players will be processed in the order by which the trade thread was posted. If a player is accepted in one offer, he is no longer available for the other offer.
- Commisoner will attempt to spread out the termination of bidding process into 24 hour windows when it can be accomodated.
- I.E ODB trade window closes on wed night, Evans trade window closes on thursday night
- If no offers are given in that 48 hour window, the trade is processed automatically.
- original offers can’t be rescinded unless a new trade is made
