Are some species more deterministic than others?
Are they more deterministic than a stochastically generated dataset?
How does determinism vary with sample size?
Do deterministic species have a narrow niche specificity?
How much niche overlap is there within genera?
All the Argyrodermas and C. spissum had a mean AUC below 80. Overall, the AUCs were high.
n = 20Figure 1. The mean AUCs per species from 20 models made with randomly chosen plots.
Null models were made by permuting the species occurrences with respect to the soil variables, while total number of occurrences per species and plot were fixed. The models predicted onto real data.
Figure 2. AUCs from stochastically generated data. n = 12
What do they look like side by side? The actual data definitely predicts better. Would ttests or anova be more suitable here?
In general, sample size had no effect.
