Sir C.R.Reddy College of Engineering is the first Engineering College in Andhra Pradesh sanctioned and recognized by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). This College is permanently affiliated to Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. The Indian Society for Technical Education is a national, professional, non-profit making Society registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860. First started in 1941 as the Association of Principals of Technical Institutions (APTI), it was converted into “Indian Society for Technical Education” in 1968 with a view to enlarge its activities to advance the cause of technological education in the country. ISTE has an Executive Council at National level. It has active membership of more than 97286 technical teachers, 5,66,466 student members, more than 2345 institutional members, 1166 faculty chapters and 1280 students’ chapters throughout the country.

It is an article of faith at Sir CRR to complement the academic component of the university and enhance the overall educational experience of students through a wide range of extra-curricular programmes, facilities, services and activities. Co-curricular and extracurricular activities are planned and executed through a number of associations, clubs, societies and students’ chapters of professional bodies. They are owned and managed by representatives of students and are monitored by the faculty in-charge. IE(I) Students’ Chapter conducts technical events like spot competitions in “C”, technical quiz and project exhibition, and paper presentation contest in various fields. These events provide students and other members of the university exposure to a variety of social, cultural, intellectual, recreational opportunities and challenges.
‘REVELATIONS’, Literary and Cultural Club is a college level Association to hone the abilities and provide the students a platform to exhibit their histrionic talents. Moreover, it gives the students a wider scope to refresh and return to their academic work with greater energy. The name of the association implies self realization and social recognition which make an individual wholesome. It helps build confidence in the students who participate in various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities and competitions conducted within the campus by the Association. Youth Festivals conducted by the University and other Colleges also facilitate exposure to the innate urge to perform and win. Events like College Day, Freshers’ Day, Teacher’s Day, Talks by distinguished speakers etc., take place under the canopy of REVELATIONS.
PRAKYATH’14, Silver Jubilee Cultural Fest is the best example for the contribution made by the Association to the Institution in the recent past. It held the flag of Sir C R Reddy College of Engineering flying high attracting students all over United Andhra Pradesh to participate in competitions in literary and cultural events. Students found themselves planning, organizing, conducting and supervising events and activities which involve leadership and creativity. Present day technology is extensively used to give a stupendous look to the campus. It added colour and festivity to the days by bringing students from all walks of life to make the event a memorable one.

Students are made to realize that they can develop their personality through community service. NSS Unit creates social and environmental awareness amongst students. Students come to learn their social obligation by way of joining this scheme. It nurtures the values of service that help the students to build a happy and a healthy society. NSS unit of the college adopted the neighboring village, Vatluru. The school in the adopted village was renovated. Four blood donation camps were conducted in the institute. About 500 student donated blood to Lions and Red Cross Society.

6.Students observe the world aids day and take each to spread the importance of precautions to be taken against Aids in their native places.
7.Our Volunteers successfully complete the Bar code work in our college Library for ever 30,000 books.
8.Our students maintained 1 acre of fruit garden in Ladies hostel through out the year.
9.Our volunteers clean the primary school and its premises in vatluru village on.
The college proudly declares itself as a Ragging free campus. Students spend their campus time in amicable atmosphere as the anti-ragging squad members effectively discharge their duties to maintain peace and discipline in the campus. They implement the rules laid down by the State Government for control of ragging in educational institutions.
The legal definition of ragging is as follows: “Ragging” means the doing of any act which causes, or is likely to cause any physical, psychological or physiological harm of apprehension or shame or Embarrassment to a student and includes,
Teasing or abusing of playing Practical joke on or causing hurt to any student.
Asking any student to do any act, or perform any thing, which he/she would not, in the ordinary course, be willing to do or perform.
Ragging is different from other crimes because the motive is solely to get perverse pleasure. Ragging is also different from other crimes as it is actively promoted by certain sections of the society
Following types of abuses and activities will be termed as ragging:
Physical abuse, for example, forcing to eat, drinks or smoke, forcing to dress or undress.
Verbal abuse, for example swear words and phrases, direct or indirect derogatory references to the person’s appearance, attire, religion, caste, family or chosen field of study Forced activity, for example
Chores for seniors e.g. copying notes, cleaning rooms, etc.
Missing classes. Not being allowed to study.
Staying awake late or getting up at unreasonable times.
Singing or dancing or performing in any other way.
Using foul language or shouting or cheering loudly.
Misbehaving with strangers, particularly women.
Reading or browsing porno-graphic/objectionable material.
Ragging also constitutes one or more of any of the following acts:
Any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student;
Indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities by any student or students which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship, physical or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in any fresher or any otherstudent;
Asking any student to do any act which such student will not in the ordinary course do and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame, or torment or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of such fresher or any other student;
Any act by a senior student that prevents, disrupts or disturbs the regular academic activity of any other student or a fresher;
Exploiting the services of a fresher or any other student for completing the academic tasks assigned to an individual or a group of students.
Any act of financial extortion or forceful expenditure burden put on a fresher or any other student by students;
Any act of physical abuse including all variants of it: sexual abuse, homosexual assaults, stripping, forcing obscene and lewd acts, gestures, causing bodily harm or any other danger to health or person;
Any act or abuse by spoken words, emails, posts, public insults which would also include deriving perverted pleasure, vicarious or sadistic thrill from actively or passively participating in the is comfiture to fresher or any other student;
Any act that affects the mental health and self-confidence of a fresher or any other student with or without an intent to derive a sadistic pleasure or showing off power, authority or superiority by a student over any fresher or any other student.
OBSERVATION AND DIRECTIVES OF THE SUPREME COURT:
The Supreme Court of India has observed that enrolment in academic pursuits or a campus life should not immunize any adult citizen from the penal provisions of the laws of the land. According to the directions of the Supreme Court if any instance of ragging is brought to the notice of the administration or the faculty, it is legally binding on us to report the matter to the Local Police.
Our Directives to the seniors:
Any interaction between freshers’ and seniors where the seniors are friendly, welcoming and non-aggressive is encouraged.
Seniors may solicit participation in clubs and other activities by announcing promotional events at well designated times and places. However, no fresher should be forced to attend. Participation by fresher’s can only be voluntary.
Seniors are expected to maintain self-imposed discipline and restraint. In particular, they must be careful about:
Any “interaction” outside public areas.
Visiting fresher’s rooms during the interaction period, or inviting fresher’s to their rooms.
Forcing fresher’s to sing dance or perform in any way under the guise of “talent search” or “interaction”.
Being over-enthusiastic about making fresher’s participating in student activities - cultural or sports.
Young Research club is a research promoting association in Sir C R Reddy College of engineering, which formed its very first body in the academic year 2k17-18.
With a caption, “You have an idea. We have a platform”, this association has been successful in upgrading the research quality of the students, as well as elevating the innovative skills, by bestowing them a platform to illustrate their innovative ideas and thereby encouraging them to enhance their research skills.
Young research club is now booming, as this association is lucrative in conducting many student research activities like sharing creative ideas on a stage, presenting ongoing in house projects, guidance for paper presentation, project expos and lot more.
Students have been enthusiastically participating in all these activities since the emerging of this association. Very recently young research club have organized a project expo and witnessed a marvelous response.
Among all the ground breaking demonstrations by students from various departments, the best 2 of all demos and one best demo from individual departments is identified.
