Facts about ESC

  • We have 6 research faculty (joint appointed by Political Science and other departments) and 1 joint faculty (with Academia Sinica)
  • 2 civil servants and 1 staff
  • TEDS, TPGIS, Top University Project, TIGCR, etc.
  • Journal of Electoral Studies (TSSCI first tier)
  • Challenges

  • Our staffs are over-loaded especially after the new labor law takes effect
  • We spend much time training part-time assistants who come and go.
  • Faculty cannot concentrate on research and teaching, let alone networking.
  • There is no election in 106 so the TEDS receives smaller grant.

    Expanding Existing Functions

Our new staff can expand end-to-end service from questionnaire design, fieldwork (data collection) and final report (data processing):

  • Academic survey: political science, communication, law, sociology, and other social sciences.
  • Internet survey: cooperation with international survey firm
  • Market survey: survey interview and focus group
  • More Education and Networking

Our new staff can also help:

  • Curriculum on survey and data science will be offered with Political Science
  • International networking: organizing conference and talks
  • Vision

  • Conducting reliable data analysis to guide decision making and research.
  • Conclusion
