As an avid soccer fan, I want to analyze the match charateristics of 2015-2016 English Primere League. The year 2015-2016 is particular interesting since under-dog Leicester City F.C won a title in English Primere League for the first time in their histroy. The team will be analyzed in particular detail and will be compared to other teams to understand the particular strategies they used (e.g. did they rely more on corner kicks, triggered other teams to receive more yellow cards by playing aggressively and etc). In fact, I also want to know whether their win in EPL was due to the underformance of other teams or entirely due to their unique strategies or combination of both. Statistical analyses such as hypothesis testing, regression and etc will be used.
In order to answer the question, I chose 2 data sources. First data source is from http://www.football-data.co.uk/. It provides CSV files for major European matches between 2015 and 2016 containing information such as number of Home Team Shots on Target/Away Team Shots on Target, number of Home Team Corners/Away Team Corners and etc (http://www.football-data.co.uk/notes.txt). Second data source is from https://www.football-data.org. It provides API for major European matches between 2015 and 2016 and similar information as the above.
