Overview

The purpose of this activity is to develop an R project that incorporates interactive plots and shiny applications. We will be working with data provided by the course and adapting interactive visualizations further as part of this final project.

Background

• The data is based historical events of the 18th and 19th centuries and centers on the thousands of letters written between German immigrants in Europe and the US.
• The project works with the data to track the flow of letters between the two countries using interactive data visualizations.
• More information about the data can be found in an article called “Writting home: how German immigrants found their place in the US”, by Felix Krawatzek and Gwendolyn Sasse at the University of Oxford
