The dataset criminal in the pakcage logmult gives 4x5 table below of the number of mean aged 15-19 charged with a criminal case for whom charges dropped in Denmark from 1955-1958

1.1.1 Pearson Chi-square association

  1. What percentages of Pearson Chi-square for association are explained by the various dimensions?

From the summary function we can see 90.3% can be explained by the first dimension, 99.3% can be explained by 2nd dimension.

1.1.2 2D plot

  1. Plot the 2D correspondence analysis solution. describe the pattern of association betwwen year and age.

From the 2D plot we can see, age 17 is associated with 1957, age 18 is assoicated with 1958, age 15 and 16 is associated with 1958 and year age 19 is associated with 1955.As we can see, it seems like the older ages associated stronger with later years.

1.2 Vietname Dataset MCA

The data set Vietnam in vcdExtra gives a 2x5x4 contingency table in frequency form reflecting a survey of student opinion on the Vietnam War at the University of North Carolina in May 1967. The table variables are sex, year in school, and response, which has categories :(A) defeat North Vietnam by widespread bombing and land invasion; (B) maintain the present policy; (C) De-escalate military activity, stop bombing and begin negotiations; (D) Withdraw military forces immediately.

1.2.1 Correspondence analysis to the loglinear model

Using the stacking approach, carry out a correspondence analysis corresponding to the loglinear model (R)(YS), which asserts that the response is indpendent of the combinations of year an sex.

From the summary Frequency table, we can see, the first dimension account 73.6% of the second dimension account for 23.9% , they account 97.5% in total.

1.2.2 2D plot Felmale vs Male

  1. Construct an informative 2D plot of the solution, and interpre in terms of how the response varies with year for males and females.

We can see all the Felmale are highly likely to Choose C, Males go to school 1 or 2 years are likely to chose A, Male in school for 3 and 4 years are more likely to choose B, and Male in school for 5 years are likely to choose D.

1.2.3 MCA: mjca()

  1. Use mjca() to carry out an MCA on the three way table, Make a useful plot of the solution and interpret in terms of the relationship of the response to year and sex.

As we can see the plot shows the same result as the previous Graph. Felmale are highly likely to Choose C, Males go to school 1 or 2 years are likely to chose A, Male in school for 3 and 4 years are more likely to choose B, and Male in school for 5 years are likely to choose D.
