ipRGCs response to motion signals

• Animal study showed that ipRGCs response to moving stimuli (Zhao et al., 2013)
• Would ipRGCs also affect motion perception?

Experiment 1: Simple motion patterns

• Investigate participants’ ability in recognizing simple motion patterns.
• vertical and horizontal directions
• blue and yellow-green background light

Procedures

• proporttion:10, 20, 30, 40, 50 60, 80%
• threshold: 82.5% correct (Pilz et al., 2017)

Results - individual data

-The results of each subject showed that performances with different background light are similar.

Results - threshold

-There is no difference in thresholds with different background lights.

Vertical only

• Results of horizontal directions might not reliable due to ceiling effect.
• How about if we only examine results from vertical directions (up & down)

Discussion

• The current results showed no differences between blue and yellow-green background light.
• It might be related to the thresholds for each participant are all quite low.
